Hobbes banned for 6 months for trolling geekboy.

That's complete bullshit man, Hobbes is awesome, I have no idea how anyone could take geekboy seriously. Like that time when sodaen got everybody to voteban him good times.

 

The issue seems to be that hobbes has stepped on the line too often now any minor thing no matter how ridiulous the person reporting it is long bans get administered to him.

 

intent or "don't take it serious" is irrelevant to the deserved punishment when administrating

 

1) Who is geekboy

2) Done on forums, or in game?

3) While a ban is fine, 6 months for anything other than high treason is VERY excessive.

The reason for the ban was blocking the VF because he wanted to prevent geekboy from getting a vehicule. Hobbes team won and he only prevented geekboy from enjoying himself. Because his belief is that geekboy prevents others from enjoying themselves. The irony is that geekboy is just as reponsible for harrassement then hobbes is.

 

9000% true. In game, it's micspams every minute, or jeep spamming, 9 mining friendly vehicles, and I'm only talking about pugs.

The forums are no different. I mean, we have stuff asking for telescoping dicks and no one gives a rats arse. A "take it less seriously approach" is what everyone else has, so why change now?

I won't state my opinion openly, but I'll just pull some information that's necessary to this based off the original thread. Hobbes wasn't necessarily given a 6 month ban for what he did with Geekboy, rather as a culmination of all his previous bans, for which he's somewhere into double figures by now.

Generally being banned a lot suggests a serious inability to understand the concept of rules, which means the idea of banning as a deterrant doesn't work, and you just have to get rid of the person causing the problem.

 

But in this case was he causing the problem or was hobbes simply trying make geekboy less of a problem?

My issue here is that hobbes intentions here are completely different then those of his previous offences where he did deserve bans. Hence he should be treated without considering his past?

 

The idea of accumulative bans is dumb. I understand it's the viper server and they can ban who the fuck they want, but Hobbes "served his time" for previous offences, so why have some insignificant event ban him for a ridiculous amount of time?

 

I disagree we should consider accumulative bans in most cases and for most of his offences but the issue is that in this case it should be an exception for multiple previously stated reasons.
