This is one thing I extremely dislike :(

Sad thing is, other places in the world will probably start doing it.

It's been tried before and it's been widely shunned but if the precendence is set in the states it'll certainly be more likely everywhere else.
    Time to bulk buy DVDs!

lol there exists a politics topic and this is the one issue you guys create a solo topic about

its not like this was any bit of a surprise at all. anyone who is surprised should take a deep look inward at their beliefs

That thread is for telling each other how much we think they're idiots. This thread is for laughing/crying at the new suggested rule that will probably affect the whole world since whatever shit happens in the states tend to happen at the other parts of the world too.

Tune up that plausible deniability encryption. We're going for a swim on the spoooooky dark Web.

Hope I don't have to crawl through too much child pr0n to download next week's episode of The Expanse.

After doing a bit of research, I still find the repealing of this law terrible, but apparently it wasn't even a law yet. It was something that was going to happen, but it was now repealed before it happened.

To top that off, there are still laws in place that are preventing ISP's from selling personal identifying information so they can't sell "Joe the Plumbers" internet history, they just can sell it based on the IP (Which, really what is the difference there?)

But to sum this up, before this law even became writing on paper ISP's didn't sell personal info, and now that it's repealed it looks like ISP's are still maintaining their policy of not selling it. Will this be the case? I don't know, but it appears the media is blowing this up. On top of this, it appears the Republican's want this to fall under the FTC (I think?), instead of the FCC.

Again, I still think it's wrong to repeal this.

The second post of this thread is you saying you don't like it. I don't understand why you are sad about them repealing something you don't like?

Mental gymnastics of me still hating what the republicans did? Okay. I don't think I ever said that I liked what they did, it's terrible. Totally mental gymnastics.
