Hi guys! In honor of Alucard's blog about his life, I have decided to start one as well! I would encourage each individual member of the empires community to start their own individual blogs, as well! Hopefully, this will kindle a greater sense of camaraderie; it might even improve the quality of the Empires community!!! (I doubt it).

Now, without further ado, you guys can finally see how boring my life is:

I'm not quite sure what book I want to read next. I've been eying Woolf's The Waves for quite some time now, but I never really understood Jacob's Room, and after re-reading it twice, I still don't understand Mrs. Dalloway, so I'm not quite sure what I want to read next. I am, however, getting a used copy of Norton's Anthology of English literature in the mail soon, along with a copy of all of Shakespeare's sonnets annotated by some Shakespearean scholar, so I'm excited about that. I'm especially looking forward to perusing the Norton Anthology, as I believe it will grant me the ability to conduct a longitudinal study of English literature over time; furthermore, their anthology contains the best commentary I've seen. When I do receive this anthology, I'll probably read Marlowe's Faustus, or Dryden's Essay of Dramatick Poesie, but I'm not sure if the Dryden will be included within, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I recently finished reading Nabokov's Lolita, and I thought it was brilliantly written. Of course, I can't even begin to dissect what it means in a literary sense; that's far beyond my limited capabilities. However, I was just thinking how annoying it is nowadays that the word "Lolita", and its derivatives, have become synonymous with child pornography. It disgusts and saddens me to the core.

I watched the last couple episodes of Breaking Bad, and I'm not really sure what I think. The problem with T.V. as an artistic medium, I find, is that the storylines often aren't very long or complex. Furthermore, you run into this issue where you have to cater to what the audience wants; some director might have the artistic vision of doing something one way that the audience completely rejects. Thus, you run into a problem where you have a schizophrenic show that might resemble a film noir for its first season, and suddenly transition into a light and airy show about butterflies. But about Breaking Bad, I'm really looking forward to see what Hank does about Walt, now that *spoilers, etc* he knows Walt is Heisenberg. It's a pity that I'll have to wait until the end of summer ere I'll find out, but on the bright side, Community (another T.V. show that I like) will be coming out sometime in February, so at least I have that to look forward to.

I tried watching The Wire a couple of months ago, and I did enjoy the first season immensely, but for some reason, I just couldn't get into the second season at all. Part of it was just that the first season finale was such a fucking downer that I didn't feel watching the second season would be worth it if something so depressing were to happen again. I know people will say that "it's a design choice; The Wire is supposed to be gritty and realistic", but there is enough reality in life for me, so The Wire just never meshed well with me.

Yup, so there concludes the first post of my sort of mundane blog. I hope that with some practice, I will manage to transform this thread into one that will rival Alucard's beautifully crafted poesie.

You didn't mention my blog and just focused on alucard's. I'm sad now.

Aside from that, from all the things you've mentioned I only heard about Breaking Bad and I heard it was good. I haven't read or watched any of that stuff.

You should stick with The Wire if enjoyed the first season I think - though the season 2 finale isn't exactly uplifting either.
Everyone tells me I should get into breaking bad but half a season in I am still not sold.

For fucks sake Hexi. I'm like 2 episodes from the end of season 4 of Breaking Bad. Can you just hold off on the spoilers for a bit.

The Wire does take time to get into, but once you do, it's a fantastic series. The second series takes a bit to pick up but it's pretty great. Season 3 and 4 are also great. Only season 5 was a bit of a let-down, it got just a little bit too silly for me.

I enjoyed the first series of Breaking Bad, but the 2nd/3rd were becoming a bit of a drag for me. I trudged through the 4th series, and then, as if by magic over the course of one episodes, I started to really, really enjoy it. It's worth sticking at I think.

    *no spoilers here*

I'll implement your advice. From now on, whenever I make a new "blog" post, I'll be sure to write in the title of all (if any) of the spoilers included within.

Honestly, this is just bad. Like, almost as pitiful as Alucard. Are you mocking him? Trolling? Just trying to be an asshole? All this effort for...?

I just can't begin to comprehend what drives a person to do, well, this. I really don't think I can ever take you seriously after this.

You should try it. It's actually quite enjoyable.

Edit: Besides, you said that "You wouldn't be able to take me seriously" after I made this awesome steamgroup: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/leet69

I'M NOW A MAN WITH NOTHING TO LOSE!!!

Anyways, I'm keeping this blog running until Alucard stops pitying himself/needlessly telling us about his life in the "Job Predicament" thread, or any other thread he makes. Every time Alucard makes a post about his life, I make one about mines.

Edit again: Fuck. I forgot to put a title in. Oh well. *no spoilers here*.

    To sum up:

We have Hamster's blog where he posts about making his game. Except the last post was made 3 months ago.
We have Lawliet's blog where he is an offensive person. Or, had. It doesn't really exist anymore.
We have my blog which is still regularly updated every week except when I forget.
We have alucard's struggle against reality.
We have Hexi's film and book blog.

We seem to have become a very bloggy community.

I dont know whats with all the new shows making women look like complete and utter bitches. It was fun in BB at start, but starting with s3, everytime walt's wife says something, it makes me want to smash the nearest object.
Its nearly as annoying as claire and her annoying as fuck baby arc in lost.

Skylar is definitely one of my least favorite characters in BB. Walt's family arc just isn't that interesting to me in general, though.
