HELP, URGENT: Resolution screwed up

Whenever I see menus, dialogue boxes, etc in Empires, they're WAAAAY bigger than the screen. I CAN'T PLAY. See screenshot. I'm playing in 1024 resolution. Bug happens in both fullscreen and windows. 4 Aspect Ratio.

Just want to say but the only resolution that works for me is the default. Anything else is also messed up, so just play on default.

 

The HUD is made for 1024x768. It won't work with smaller resolutions.
And if it got messed up while playing with 1024x768+, you just have to restart the game.

 

Adding to what Major Tom said you have to restart the game after EVERY resolution change to make the changes work right. It's a HL2 bug.

 

Just restart the game. It scales itself automatically depending on your resolution.
