In 2.24 i had like others good fps and now its kinda fucked up like getting 16 fps when server got 30-40+ players in i get like really low fps and i even dont know why.. i already have pickleds particle pack it raise my fps with 6 so thats kinda good and i dont lag on vehicle training map so i think its something with the models but i geuss that was just the same as in 2.24 so can someone help me out? AMD Sempron 3000+ processor 1.84 GHz and i got 2GB memory can someone help me to raise my fps but i dont want it to look very bad like worser then runescape Video is Nvidia 7600 GS one of the best with old Fit idk how thats called like pci socking and other one... i have old one
idk but to me this sounds rather limiting for empires: AMD Sempron 3000+ processor 1.84 GHz dunno if its only the gfx carp my P4 with 3GHz didnt cut it - updating the gfx card didnt get me any better performance anymore ...
If you can OC your CPU, by all means, do so. As for better performance... Library -> (Right Click) EmpiresMod -> Properties -> Launch Options -> Type (No quotes), Code: -dxlevel 70 +mat_bumpmap "0" +mat_specular "0" -novid +sv_forcepreload "1" And in c:\program files\steam\steamapps\sourcemods\empiers\cfg\autoexec.cfg Create this file if it does not exist. Copy this into that file; Code: // // Registry // cl_lagcompensation "1" cl_updaterate "101" cl_cmdrate "101" cl_interp "0.01" cl_smooth "0" cl_smoothtime "0" // // Graphics // cl_drawmonitors "0" cl_detail_avoid_force "0" cl_detail_avoid_radius "0" cl_detail_avoid_recover_speed "0" cl_detail_max_sway "0" cl_detaildist "0" cl_detailfade "0" cl_ejectbrass "0" // mat_showlowresimage "0" mat_bumpmap "0" mat_filtertextures "0" mat_fastnobump "1" mat_trilinear "0" mat_forceaniso "0" mat_antialias "0" mat_vsync "0" mat_picmip "2" mat_clipz "1" mat_compressedtextures "1" mat_reducefillrate "1" mat_framebuffercopyoverlaysize "0" mat_bufferprimitives "1" mat_envmapsize "0" mat_envmaptgasize "0" mat_forcehardwaresync "0" mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware "0" mat_debug_postprocessing_effects "0" mat_debug_process_halfscreen "0" mat_debugdepthmode "0" // r_phong "0" r_flex "0" r_3dsky "0" r_occlusion "0" r_fastzreject "0" r_updaterefracttexture "0" r_renderoverlayfragment "0" r_updaterefracttexture "0" r_maxnewsamples "0" r_maxsampledist "0" r_norefresh "0" r_minnewsamples "0" r_TransitionSensitivity "0" // gl_clear "0" flex_smooth "0" lod_enable "1" lod_TransitionDist "1" // // Water // mat_wateroverlaysize "0" r_waterforceexpensive "0" r_waterforcereflectentities "0" r_WaterDrawReflection "0" r_WaterDrawRefraction "0" r_cheapwaterend "1" r_cheapwaterstart "1" r_forcewaterleaf "0" cl_show_splashes "0" // // Light // mat_debug_autoexposure "0" mat_debug_bloom "0" mat_specular "0" mat_fastspecular "1" mat_hdr_level "0" mat_hdr_enabled "0" mat_disable_lightwarp "1" mat_disable_ps_patch "1" mat_disable_fancy_blending "1" mat_autoexposure_max "0" mat_autoexposure_min "0" mat_filterlightmaps "0" mat_disable_bloom "1" mat_bloomscale "0" mat_force_bloom "0" mat_parallaxmap "0" r_dynamic "0" r_lightaverage "0" r_worldlightmin "0" r_worldlights "0" r_maxdlights "0" r_PhysPropStaticLighting "0" r_dopixelvisibility "0" r_ambientboost "0" r_ambientfactor "1" // // Models // g_ragdoll_fadespeed "0" g_ragdoll_important_maxcount "0" g_ragdoll_lvfadespeed "0" g_ragdoll_maxcount "0" r_eyes "0" r_eyemove "0" r_eyegloss "0" r_eyesize "0" r_eyeshift_z "0" r_eyeshift_y "0" r_eyeshift_x "0" r_teeth "0" r_lod "-1" r_rootlod "2" cl_ragdoll_collide "0" // // Shadows // r_shadowmaxrendered "0" r_shadows "0" r_shadowrendertotexture "0" mat_shadowstate "0" // // Props // props_break_max_pieces "0" props_break_max_pieces_perframe "0" cl_phys_props_max "0" func_break_max_pieces "0" // // Sound // snd_mixahead "0.1" dsp_enhance_stereo "0" dsp_slow_cpu "1" // // Ropes // rope_smooth_maxalphawidth "0" rope_smooth_maxalpha "0" rope_smooth_enlarge "0" rope_wind_dist "0.01" rope_subdiv "0" rope_smooth_minwidth "0" rope_smooth_minalpha "0" rope_averagelight "0" rope_smooth "0" rope_shake "0" rope_collide "0" r_ropetranslucent "0" // // Decals // r_maxmodeldecal "0" r_drawmodeldecals "0" r_decals "0" r_decal_cullsize "9999" r_drawflecks "0" r_drawbatchdecals "0" mp_decals "0" // // Violence // violence_ablood "0" violence_agibs "0" violence_hblood "0" violence_hgibs "0" // // Preload // cl_forcepreload 1 sv_forcepreload 1 // // Binds // bind "kp_5" "cl_detaildist 0" // // Misc // fps_max "101" con_enable "1" jpeg_quality "100" cl_downloadfilter "none" cl_hidehints "1" cl_hideactionindicators "1" ///// ///// Clear ///// /////
He didn't want it to look worse than runescape. D: Does seem the CPU is the weaker of the two. Pity, since I can't think of anything that could be turned down to stress the CPU less. (I'm entirely a video settings guy.)
Hey! Runescape did a nice graphics update. I can't see the pixels anymore. It's that his GPU is providing more information than the CPU can handle. Try downloading AMD fusion, and using the MAX PERFORMANCE setting. It shuts down EVERY application unnecessary to run your computer, and it frees up a lot of room in your processor. Completely reversable too.
AMD fusion is only for visa or windows 7 i got xp.. its says this on the site: Requires either 32 or 64-bit Microsoft® Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, administrator rights and a system with an AMD CPU. Installation Instructions: but when i try to install its says i needed window 7 or vista to install...
You can try cevo's css fps config. It says "CSS" but it actually work with any games that work with the files of HL2 or using the source engine. http://www.cevo.com/?page=downloads&func=css Rename the file to "autoexec"(without the quotation marks) and drag it into default: D:/Program Files/Steam/steam apps/Source Mods/Empires/cfg in your launch options you can put "-dxlevel 81 -console" and when launching the game it will set your directx to version 8 so you will keep a decent quality with a fps boost, and in the console you should see CEVO's FPS Config loaded. Hope it helped.
General performance tips Min/Max: Disable all windows system sounds Run dxdiag and lower sound acceleration Adjust Windows appearance for best performance -Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance Omega Drivers -http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ -http://www.omegadrivers.net/ Intel chipset driver update -http://downloads.guru3d.com/Mainboard-drivers---Intel_c17.html PCI Latency Tool -http://downloads.guru3d.com/PCI-Latency-Tool-3.1-v2-download-951.html -Lower Soundcards to 32, raise Videocards to 128 or 248 Avast! -http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download -Uninstall that junky AVG, McAfee, Norton, ect
The autoexec.cfg options cl_lagcompensation "1" cl_updaterate "101" cl_cmdrate "101" cl_interp "0.01" cl_smooth "0" cl_smoothtime "0" Work great and launch options +sv_forcepreload "1" +cl_forcepreload "1" heapsize 524288 Work great also.
I don't know your budget but a new graphic card is really not expensive. Radeon HD 4670 55 Euro Radeon HD 4850 80 Euro (Empires will run smoothly at 1920x1200 at max details and max AA) Radeon HD 5570 60 Euro (My Notebook has nearly similar card and 1366x768 is also working fine) Radeon HD 5670 70 Euro (Don't know which Nvidia cards would correspondent) But maybe your CPU is the limiting factor. But this is easy to detect. Just have a look on the Windows Task Manager while Empires is running.
Yea I feel your pain, my mobo failed, and I had to switch from my old overclocked pentium 4 clocked at 3.6 ghz which played empires on all high, and max resolution, to a eight year old family computer with a 2.0 ghz pentium 4. So I upped the ram from the basic 256 mb to 1.25 gb ram with ram from the totalled machine. I also bought a cheap agp card with 512 mb for $40 bucks at micro center. and I was getting about 20 fps -30 fps on empires 2.24 with everything low, but after 2.25 I can only manage maybe 10-25 fps, and when arty spam begins 3-9 fps. But if you have an old computer which still uses pci and not agp, I would say buy a new computer. Actually if your short on cash, try craigslist, or the thrift store, you may be able to find a 2.8 ghz pentium 4, or comp AMD for under $100. Also check geeks.com, or ebay. a pentium 4 2.8 ghz would run HL2 no problem on meduim/high, minus a lot of the lag might be able to find a 3.2 ghz p4 too.
The only way for us all to get better fps to get empty to revert the shit he added. Or at least make it less demanding. No smoke because with it we lag and when we remove it we get an unfair advantage. No dirt kicking up from explosions like arty because on different surfaces it looks stupid. Like cement chunks coming up from grass. Get rid of rain and snow. No need.
ohh snap! Haven't heard anyone mention those in years. Think ill meyander over to there site to have a look see. They used to have the best vid drivers.
Well a few things i can think of are set your rate too 10000 in console some servers are like 30000-50000 also turn your settings down to all low and everything else off no v-sync make sure its off.Also dont have your firewall anti-virus program runnning in the back ground man trun off all the stuff you dont need like just have empires running. also there is some cl_update rate commands i would have to look it up but yeah theres lots of stuff you can do like make sure windows auto update is off not let on that can make you lag sometimes. but yeah really buy more ram i use 2 gigs 667 dr2 and even thats out dated lol but hey i get like 60-120 fps on my server it depends on the map.
If your in the U.S. and have some spare cash, you should check out newegg.com's combo deals. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.419979 You can buy something like that plus a decent pcie x16 graphics card all for under $200. You may need a new power supply too. (and a cpu fan)
as much as i remember semprons run on some shitty chipsets. you could attach a chainsaw and a rocket launcher to that motherboard and it still be a piece of shit. i has one sempron in ze corner somewhere + agp 7800GT one of the last powar cards for the agp. sempron 2800, 7800GT, 4gb DDR 1 ram, it runs source engine games really well but stutters every 30 seconds - as if not enough bandwidth is getting through and it has to stop to buffer
