As the title say. and now available in 10bit-1080p-AAC! (if u dont know what hellsing ultimate is: u fail)
I know, it's about a pumpkin that goes around with a policewoman solving crimes, and then eats some ketchup and turns into count Duckula! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VthsQVsXwEg
I'm holding out on a batch Blu-Ray 1080P release. DGz is the only good sub group but they only do 720p.
I've seen screenshots and, whilst I don't watch any anime, I know enough to know that Hellsing is a bit more detailed than Zeke's usual child porn anime like the Lucky Star one, but still, HD? Really?
Sometimes they end up going all out with the animation, like this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5V2qwYOiNo Although that was a few years ago.
Although it might not seem like any anime should be in 1080p, there's one major reason for why it's needed. Sharpness. A slightly blurred line in a live-action show would seem natural because real life has flowing transitions and that blending is right; things don't have distinct black outlines nor sharp boundaries. In an anime however, everything has a very distinct boundary that needs be smooth when it curves but shouldn't blur. These very distinct outlines makes anime extremely susceptible to ringing and aliasing from oversharpening. To top it off, colors tend to be much harder and gradients tend to be more common. For example, it's rare in real life to see pure white or pure black, but fairly common in anime. Gradients in dark areas, even slight ones, without enough bitrate or color information will commonly show banding. Any of those artifacts can really ruin the quality of video.
I want Tenshi to encode 1080p rips of Lucky Star for Coalgirls. I'd download it in half a beat. But that picture isn't a particularly good upscale. Outlines are too blurry for my tastes.
