I searched for this and couldn't find anything but i wouldn't be surprised if it has been suggested before.

Switchable headlights (and possibly rear lights) on vehicles, lots of empires maps can be quite dark and it would make life much easier and cooler to be able to have headlights and see where you are going.

I really can't see any meaningful gameplay objections to this but i can see how it would take a little time to update the vehicle models and possibly code or how it might be too much stress on the server or client to think about lights on every tank or jeep that is cruising around.

I'd also quite like a turret light.

You'd need to add the code for multiple shadowing lights though.

I don't think anyone would really mind if they didn't cast shadows tbh.

Talking of turrets (in an nf light tank especially) i want to be able to either have it completely open so i can actually return fire in all directions when im passenger, or close the fecking thing and hide if im getting shot at but i guess thats for another thread.

I think people would mind if they saw random spotlight decals all over the place which is what they would see without shadows.

If thats how it would have to work then fair enough, im not too educated about the coding and engine side of things.

I just meant it doesn't have to be anything particularly fancy that uses all the lighting effects that the engine can do, unless of course it has to in order to look passable. I just want something that throws light in front of my vehicle without looking too stupid is all im saying.

Well with flashlights if you want to make it a long distance one, you need to use the proper projected decal, but if you don't shadow map that it will show up on every surface it hits along its path, so it will show up on the inside wall of a barracks, every inside wall if you shine it lengthways.

You should also have some sort of cone effect because spotlights lights tend to look bad if viewed from the side without one.

An automobile or motor car is a wheeled motor vehicle for transporting passengers, which also carries its own engine or motor.

APCs and jeep fall under this.

Well, only APCs and jeeps and light tanks really.

The other tanks have tracks, not wheels. The AFV is a half-track.
