This is only for using SVN to install the test versions of Empires, and as of March 19th, 2014, is now outdated. If you don't know what that is or you have not been explicitly told to use SVN, follow the instructions as listed in this thread. I take no responsibility for anyone suffering loss of life, limb or loved ones due to desanguination, explosive bowl syndrome, the clap or eardrum explosion.
    1. Install an SVN client. I've always used TortoiseSVN myself, but any should do
    2. Go to your sourcemods directory. You don't *have* to put it here, but if you ignore me, you damn well better know what you're doing.
    3. Make a new folder in there, call it empires. Again, you don't *have* to, but blah blah blah.
    4. Assuming you're using TortoiseSVN, right click in your new folder and do "SVN Checkout"
    5. Set the URL to "http://raegquit.com/EmpSVN/sourcemod_dir/" and start it going. It should ask for a username and password. Use "tester" for both.
    6. Now wait. You're pretty much downloading all of Empires again here, so it'll take some time.
    7. Now you need to install Source 2013! Go to your Steam library under Tools and install "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer"
    8. Once both things are fully done, you're almost there! Set your launch options for Source 2013 Multiplayer as you would for normal Empires.
    9. Now this is the important part. You need -game "<path to empires gameinfo.txt here>" in your launch options with everything else. If you put Empires into Sourcemods and it's on the same drive as your Source 2013 directory, you can do "-game ../../sourcemods/empires", minus the quotes. If you did it *any* other way, use the full path as -game "<path to where you put it here>", without the brackets but with the quotation marks or it'll break and then you'll come crying to me about why it says it can't find it in C:\Program and I'll ask you if it's in quotes.
    10. Now launch Source 2013! Congratulations, you're playing Empires 2013! Be sure to report any bugs in a place I can find them!

Myself and trickster have both tested this method and can confirm it works.

When candles puts the dots in here: "-game ../../sourcemods/empires"

Keep it as they are, dont replace them.

I'll post details on how to report bugs soon

Now I shall try my very best to break the game during tests.
(That's what I am supposed to do, right?)

Also don't include the quotes when you put the launch options in or it won't work. (I put it in with quotes then it wouldn't work :headshot: )
    It should look like this:
    Code:
    -game ../../sourcemods/empires
Also if you need to use an absolute path because you put empires in a different place and the path has spaces in it then you may need to do it like this with quotes:
    Code:
    -game "D:\Path to\Empires"
Not sure if using / or \ slashes matter.

The first method should work for most people.

I know it says all this in the original post but it could be formatted clearer.

Dz is going to make a nice pretty instruction thread. I've tidied up the testing forums, so I'll start the testing schedule.

But the first test is on Monday. Sunday.
For now, we will be posting bug reports in threads for each session. I'll make one for the first test now. Depending on how often we test I may change this to some sort of master bug list as a sticky.

Edit: yes DDD thats what i meant :P

So I'll test later in the week, I'm sure we won't have just one test.

One Test to rule them all, One Test to find them,
One Test to bring them all, and in the darkness fix them.

That was Trickster's fault, actually. He accidentally put an extra word in quotes in the engine scripts that entirely broke them, but it's fixed now. That the only real bug that's been found since this morning is one I already knew is a good sign in my view.
