Have you tried logging in on a friends PC? That would rule out the problem being specifically with your PC. You could try making another free Steam account and if you can log in with that you know the problem lies just with your account. Then you can bitch at Valve if they don't sort it you want a refund for all your Steam games.
Exit Steam. Remove ClientRegistry.Blob (main Steam folder) and Platform.gcf (subfolder Steamapps). Just cut and paste them elsewhere and restart Steam
ok, i was trying to remove the files but since i had a clean install i dont have \steamapps yet btw, i can't exit steam because i can't eve enter it D: I can log into my account through the main website so i guess it's not disabled. could they have randomly banned my account?!? --- trying to create a new account... i donno why it's taking so long, i get this small box saying "steam - working" and under it "creating account" but it doesn't seems to go anywhere got error 200... googled and was lucky enough to find this http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showpost.php?p=2102667&postcount=7 --- WinsockXPFix didn't do any good either... **** **** **** holy frikken cow-shagging-monkeh! All i had to do is to disable the WAN IP adress D: i've nerffed my entire steam folder for nothing D= thanks you guys anyhow, i appreciate the help anyway...
Just kill steam with the taskmanager, delete the clientregistry.blob (after killing steam) and log back in. That should work like a charm. At least it does for me whenever steam decides to go nuts and doesnt work. If that doesnt work delete everything in the steam folder except steam.exe and the steamapps folder. and start steam.exe it will redownload everything (except the games and the huge stuff).
