Just beat it on Hardcore. Fucking epic to say the least. Talk about non-stop action, rediculous graphics and cinematics that blow Metal Gear Solid's out of the water. The emphasis on the storyline this time around made it that much better. Has anyone else played it? I've yet to do online, and only played a couple levels of Horde mode. It's pretty awesome.
its not so much that you are playing as the bad guys, its more like there are no good guys to play as
GOW1 bored me to tears on the PC. I could have nabbed GOW2 a few days early (legit, too) - but after HATING the first one, I see no reason to try the second. If any game makes me think most people playing console games have no taste, its GoW. And wait, no good side? Did I miss something? The locusts seemed like the clear "badguy" by how far into GOW1 I got.
If they had actually bothered implementing some of that story into the game it might be worth playing.
The story is tons more involved 2nd time around. I thought Gears 2 was a good game. Not great, nothing to brag about. It didn't have muh depth to it which is something I like in most games. However, Gears 2 did a great job in emphasizing the story. On top of that, they fixed about 99% of the issues, added more variation in weaponry to add to the combat experience. Theres tons of things I can go on about thats different between 1 and 2. Even if you didn't like the first, don't let that deter you from the second. My friend who hated gears 1 is pissed because he already paid off CoD5, and now wants Gears 2 after watching me play through the first 2 acts.
I might go nab it at the company store then soon...a coworker just said the same things of Gears 2, among one of the things he said: the friendly AI isn't as stupid...
I chalk that up to action not being long lasting; a storyline will make you remember the game longer. I never expect games like GOW to have a good story. But GOW1 was just repetitive and boring.
