    Playing Scout Early Game
The correct way to use scout early game is mainly running up to the enemy's forward barracks sabotaging it then running inside trying to kill as many infantry units as possible this will make the barracks easier to kill due to it being at half health. Also it makes the infantry easier to kill due to them all now spawning with half health.

in no situation should you be using the ranged rifle as scout i suggest using the close range SMG. Also scout does have a infantry bullet resist making him able to take more shots than other classes.

Scout should always be on the front line sabotaging buildings, killing infantry and finally sticky stunning enemy tanks. In no circumstance should a scout be using hide to sneak around the map it just wastes valuable time. Neither should a scout use the ranged rifle.

    Playing Scout Late Game
late game you mainly need to be getting into a jeep with a engineer going round the map and killing buildings and refinery's. You can also use sticky stun's to disable heavy tanks later on in the game, this will render them unable to move for a short period of time so it is much easier for your team to kill.

Also you can kill turrets by sabotaging them they will be disabled after you sabotage them, after this they will die after a short amount of time.
And off course scout is good for sticking the enemy commander for a ninja.

    Weapons
The close range smg is the primary weapon for scout and is very easy to use due to it being a spray and pray weapon. It has a decent rate of fire decent damage and is very easy to use.

The Shotgun is good also however you have to be very close to your enemy to kill them. It can kill on one shot if you land all of your hits at very close range.

    Skills
The first Skill you should use a scout is speed upgrade. The skills i use as scout are mainly speed upgrade, health upgrade, accuracy upgrade and ammo upgrade. Another skill that is good for scout is melee upgrade for running inside there barracks and killing infantry with melee.

    Conclusion
The scout can be a very effective class if you learn to play him correctly. However the scout is still situational and should not be played constantly throughout the match.

Scout is bullshit as squad leader if you have the points to sustain it.

the correct way to play scout is not playing scout, except for a very few highly situational events and also never more than one per team.

Just to clarify some of what spike said.

First of all I would classify Scout as frontline squad support, It is not the best at killing infantry, or killing tanks. However it will cause enough interference (sabotaging barracks make people spawn with 50% HP) making it easier for the everyone to kill them.
As a scout, you should never be alone, you need to work closely with your squad. Working with an Engineer to take refineries or generally gain map control, or working with a Grenadier to take down tanks (sticky stunning them) or attack larger bases are both very effective duos.
Most of these tactics however only work well on open maps such as duststorm or cyclopean. On chokepoint maps such as canyon or slaughtered you will find out it's very difficulty for a scout to get close to the enemy and therefore to be an effective addition to the team/squad.

"Playing Scout Early Game": What spike means is playing scout before tanks have armor/engine, which is usually around 10 minutes.
"Playing Scout Late Game": This isn't actually late game, it's valid as soon as you have a VF, but again, only on open maps. Rushing jeeps into the enemy hand on some chokepoints is a waste of tickets and resources, you're welcome to try it a couple of times, but don't keep doing it.
"Skills": The first skill as a Scout will highly depend on what you're doing and the type of map, if you're on chokepoint maps or generally close quarters you will want Enhanced Senses, if you're on more open maps and have a lot of ground to close quickly to the enemy barracks you indeed need speed upgrade. But enhanced senses should definitely be one of the first 2 skills you take, so many people under-estimate it and that's probably the biggest problem with people playing scout. Enhanced senses allow you to see the enemy on the minimap (don't forget to zoom in your minimap when using it), which allows you to take enemies by surprise, scout is very good at that, instant kills. But it also allows you to dodge enemies when you're in a barracks for example, your job is too keep it sabotaged as long as possible for your squad to take down, not to kill the enemies.
