Gameflood Contest

Gameflood is having a mod/map contest in 3 categories, RTS, FPS and RPG. We have two of those genres covered, what do you say? The prize money is as follows: 1st prize: $3,000; 2nd prize, $1,000; 3rd prize, $500.

So... What do you say we try our hand at a mod contest again. I doubt gameflood is nearly as biased as moddb.

So, would that mean the Empires wins the money? That would be pretty good, since then we can buy an emp_recruit squisher XD

Hope it's mostly correct, I forgot to mention 16x maps or airplans, crap.

 

Don't start mentioning unreleased features, or there will be hundreds of recruits begging for them.

 

yeah, I wasn't sure about mentioning client-side movement, but I figured not many people would know what it meant anyways.

As for airplanes and 16x maps, aren't those both news items?

I think a good showing in this contest is way more important than some pesky newbs. Half those emp_recuits will stay when we tell them it's coming, the other half will continue getting banned on all the worlds CSS servers/BF servers

 

Heh, I just used the moddb description. Think of what krenzo could buy with that 3k... A months supply of BAWLS or a weeks worth of gas. :p

bullshit! no one ever plays ES when I try and search for an active server.

Also, and this is important, I don't know what to say in the "Brief Description" of mod nomination. I don't know technical stuff... I figured I'd just say something about "dedicated developers," the best aspects of the C&C genre, huge maps, diverse gameplay, etc. etc. and I couldn't think of anything else. Should I mention something else I may have forgotten? I don't wanna post until I know what I'm talking about. K.T., your thoughts?

Lobster, what about writing down why you think Empires should win?

You could mention that Empires is still under construction, even though most mods have finished and left themselves with limited room for improvement. 16x maps and aircraft are good examples. Both of which are public knowledge as they were in a news update.

 

The only way it's going to show up is if krenzo or someone else publishes it. I'd do it but I'd need krenzo's permission first.

 

Why 2 out of 3? I always roleplay whatever side I'm on. Sometimes I even talk to turrets as if they were NPCs.

Skills kinda count towards RPG, since you customize your class.

 

I do know that I would vote for empires as I have tried many of the mods for hl2 and though I mean no disrespect towards other mod makers there are currently only two mods for hl2 on my hard disk empires and smod.I have had empires on since i first found it (1.01) and it just gets better.
