I wonder why Valve has switched from ATI to NVIDIA. Oh well I'm still happy with my ATI provided Black-Box
i got all excited because i thought that portal thing was a demo for... like... a new game, or something. Then I was sad. I want more glados damn it.
Yeah. I still think that Nvidia sucks (or at least isnt better than ATI). AFAIK they didn´t switch. I still see the "best experienced with ATI graphis" brand in the options-menu of TF2.
Lollum, its all about the money. Valve gets paid by ATI for putting that ad in the game for them. Its not necessarily true, but some people will think its true and possibly buy an ATI card.
The reason they're plugging NVidia is because of their hardware survey. They found a majority of the users of Steam use NVidia cards.
Sometimes they really do optimize the game for certain cards, and sometimes it's the other way around. ATI did this with F.E.A.R., but fucked it up and instead the game ran at unplayable framerates until they released another driver version. (It was faster in the end though. :D )
To simply think that something sucks is bad..... you have to know it. Reading reviews made by the super nerds testing everything in hundreds of ways clearly shows that Nvidia have more pure power and same thing goes for Intel over amd. Also maybe they are considering something for the rumered february geforce 9 series release.
