Anybody else noticed major FPS impact since the new version? When there are more players my FPS drops to under 30. When its usually 60-80-120 It wasnt so bad in older versions.
I have empires running all maxed ingame and on moderately ultra settings in nvidia driver and my framerate today seemed to be very fine, I had less 200 fps moments, but most of the time it didn't drop below 90
If there's a difference at all, i probably have more fps now than before ... on average All high settings, 5 year old pc, 3 year old graphics card
I disabled DX9 because I wanted to remove additional variables and because it's possible to get 95% of DX8 performance in DX9. It's just that Valve's shaders are expensive by default if game detects you run DX9. But no such tweaks will bring any real performance. Renderer simply has to be rewritten.
I had normal fps 60-80 in the new version but since today it drops constantly to 15-20 for no reason. Their was a empires update today, steam said it had to bla bla repack bla bla empires in a new way etc.
ya.. I am taking massive fps loss here... used to get 90's now getting 30's. Although it could be a side effect of getting win 7 finally. I can't be sure since I haven't played the new patch till yesterday night after installing win7.
OK it might be a steam update problem. The fps are stable if you are not alt-tabbing or using windowed mode.
Its something else here dunno what, my fps are super low now 15-30 max. I have similar fps if I change every setting to low or back to maximum. Same scene same point of view, low and max setting give me the same fps... Edit: When I start the game I have normal fps but it drops super fast to 15-30 fps and does not go up again...
I'd also like to point out that I found out that turning shadows/hdr/bloom/water reflections has absolutely no impact on fps. Weird.
