I was playing on slaughtered a few days ago and blew up a mortar shell in the face of a grenadier as I happened to hit it with my AR. Was it just an illusion or do mortar shells really explode if you hit them with gun fire?
Shells can collide with other shells. I've seen arty shells collide with eachother on crossroads. Not sure if that's what happened here.
yeah you can hit cannon shells with each other, Ive had rpgs hit head on, and mortar shells used to spontaneously blow up on their way out of the tube, so I could believe it happened.
Once I shot and rpg at an enemy grenadier and he fired his mortar just as the RPG missle was going past him and the mortar shell collided with the RPG missile causing the shell and the missile to both explode. It killed him and still counted as my kill lol.
Far as I remember missiles have a certain amount of health, and do take damage, and explode when health drops to 0, unless they hit a target first. I don't remember if the same holds true for mortar shells, but from what you've said I guess it does
Used to be planned for lvl 3 MGs to shoot down enemy missiles and shells. I remember shooting down nukes in a 2 chaingun APC back in 2.12. I didn't think the HP on shells and missiles was still around.
