Error when starting Empires 2.27

    I just downloaded the new patches and then tried to start Empires. At first, the Empires Background showed up as normal, but then hl2.exe crashed. I know my pc has SSE1 and downloaded the 2.27 SSE1 and replaced the files in Empires/bin like i was told, so that cant be the issue.
    Did anyone else had this problem?
