Two days ago everything was fine, and now it is not. I have racked my brain and am positive that I didn't download anything in that time. The only thing I did start to do was download Shogun 2. Empires is fine, and joining servers is fine, but once I have connected, I experience lags and jumps. Everyone's voice becomes garbled and I cannot move correctly. Even when standing still, it happens. This is without network lag and I do not experience it in any other game. I tested multiple other games and Source mods but do not have this issue. When I press esc to bring up the menu, I do not experience the lagging and jumping around. I hear everyones voices and everything appears normal. But once I get out of the menu, immediately I get these problems returning. I'll be reinstalling after Shogun has downloaded, but that will take a while. Any suggestions for the meantime?
try verifying the game cache and defragment, right click on empires in library, properites, local files tab both options are there.
My computer is defragmented every few days. I fixed some of the problems so I can play empires now. A few textures don't seem to work, but I discovered Windows decided GameOverlayUi wasn't worth wasting time on, and after resolving that most of the problems disappeared.
It gives me sexual gratification and also helps out the system, or so I am led to believe by professors of computer engineering.
Afaik, windows 7 users have a service running that defragments drives (as long as they are set to be defragmented) on long idle times.
i can confirm that i never needed to defragment my hdds since i have 7. whenever i checked it, it said 0% ...
