64player King is still the best.

Well, Canyon won't come up in the vote at any more than 22 players (I figured if it came up at 20, it might be 40 by the end of the map). But Cyclopean will. When I've added all the new maps in, I'll post up the cycle with the full parameters.

Actually there was a discussion about large maps being voted in with low population and the other way around. Trickster's method was regarded as the best solution(What he's currently using) IIRC.

    Fuck yeah, 64 players!
Has it been tested (or "loaded") yet with 64 players? I'd join testing / seeding if my internet wasn't capped.

Everything is possible if you got the brains for server hosting and not trying to run your heavy cpu intensive shit alongside other servers on the same physical machine, mind you empires do not supported multicore cpu's , neither does the server.

So basicly in order to run empires the best, is get a old p4 3.0ghz cpu, and just run empires on it, done deal, can handle 128 player server, not sweating it.

64 players is the max. But a 3.0ghz P4 wouldn't be much help. It's not pure clockspeed, you have to take into account Cache size, cpu architecture, and if you can shove some stuff on other cores to give Empires solidarity.

As I said before, a modern CPU with about 2 cores and the highest clockspeed you can run on it without breaking. So i7 2600K or good old c2d 8400@4ghz or even higher.

Emp really needs multi core support. Yet again, I have no idea what's needed to make that happen.

2600k is hyperthreaded you would be far better off with the 2500k

Sorry, for me failing there. I thought the problems where gone just because of the different architecture of the newer architecture of Sandybridge CPUs.

So is it only the HT that causes trouble, not the "Turbo Boost" feature?

No, Turboboost just ups the clock when some of the cores aren't in use, nothing more.

You wouldnt be able to utilize the 2600k , not for a long bit, first of its a quad-core running on the new sandy bridge, you might wanna consider a 2500k , dual core CPU, and from what i can understand and what ive seen, Viper's server is shit, she's a paranoid bitch who won't take any help or advice from anyone except people in her inner circle who is sucking her toes.

As the matter of the fact i heard she wont even use any other forums than her own for Empires, better off without the bitch, pardon my french, but then thats why Ponies are setting up their own Empires server.
