I was looking at the scripting files (not that I understand how they work), and I was thinking if it's possible to create a localized version by just translate the words in the scripts. Can anyone who knows about scripting tell me if this will work? If this doesn't work, is the Empires developers planning to localize Empires?
Localization in HL2 is normally done through scripting, but I'm pretty sure Krenzo just defined everything in the code. It would be pretty simple for him to add support for it.
Thats right. I was looking at the strings in the server.dll for possible keyvalues or something, and saw alot of strings like "You do not have enough reinforcement tickets to spawn"
So...If I just change the information in, say, the scripts for composite armor description, it will be displayed as so when I join a game and it doesn't have to be the same as the server?
Good question. I don't know if it checks for the description to be the same. The other values (cost, research time, damage) will be the server's, though.
I remember a bug where the costs were not displayed correctly because the client scripts were older than the server.
After some simple experiments, I conclude it's possible to change the description for certain equipments. However, it seems the computer can't display Chinese character correctly. All I see is empty rectangle blocks. I thought Unicode is supported by Empires 2.0
gah, no language localization for me thx. Everything on my pc is in english and I doubt I will understand it in dutch.
