    Useless blogg on the map: part#1.

    The map is now in 2x size than what is was yesterday! Cheers! Extra long compile time.. But it's needed if you want to place a building..

    I've also managed to fix textures pretty good, so Avair, your giant moo cow in string bikini will be there.. Somewhere.

    Also, Empires is not built for a rats map.:p

    I was just about to do that!

    But.. then when I try to play it again (after just I had just added a few holes to drive through)

    THIS came up in the console:


    env_cubemap used on world geometry without rebuilding map. . ignoring: common/concrete/ceiling01
    (had a lot of those)
    Begin loading faces (loads materials)
    End loading faces (loads materials)
    Host_EndGame: Map coordinate extents are too large!!
    Check for errors!

    Tried to rebuild, didn't help. So, what should I do? It's close to release.

    EDIT: Found this in the compiling window if it's to any use:
    No such variable "$hdrbasetexture" for material "skybox/sky_day01_01rt"
    Can't load skybox file skybox/sky_day01_01 to build the default cubemap!

    So, is there any skybox texture with support for hdrbasetexture?

    Map coordinate extents too large" error is what is crashing you. If you havent placed a brush somewhere outside the hammer grid, you have probably created an invalid solid somewhere, usually from bad vertex manipulating, or carving. Map> check for errors to see if you have any problems,it should tell you you have an invalid solid. If not, post your compile log in full and Ill point out your error.

    First of all, you have a leak. Map > run pointfile to find it and seal it. Fix all your leaks until you stop getting the message above in your compile log. When your leak is fixed, check to see if you still getr this error:
    I think this probably means you have a huge brush somewhere, most likely so big it stretches out of your map. Like I said this could also be caused by an invalid brush. Use the "check for errors" function in the map menu in hammer and see if you have any invalids. If not, use "go to brush number" and go to brush 8394. This will either be screwed up or it is just too big for the compiler to handle it.

    In future make sure your map is not leaked before worrying about other issues, as a leaked level will usually throw up other errors too. Fix your leaks and go from there.

    It's just that.. It worked before, then I changed some stuff and it all crashed.
    But thanks, I'm off to fix this little ugly beauty!
