    You're a buildable block.

the map gets boring pretty fast, because u dont have much space to operate and the only strategical important point is the middle, but u can have alot of fun w/ the destroyable blocks. destroying the floor under the enemy rax and watching the unaware players fall to death is funny as hell ^^ theyre like "ima rush out and pwn teh noob attackers ... oh wtf aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh"

polygons are 2 dimensional - also the sides dont play a roll, its the angles.

    i know im a little late ;)

But you're misunderstanding, because this map is indeed named after all of its octagons.

Greatest map ever (rainbow may be a little better though...).

Thought of some interesting variations on it that you might consider.

    1) Remove the breakable quality of the blocks and turn each 'octagon' (hexagon/octahedron) into flag point that captures in a split second, changes color and generates resource flow. Could be like farming blocks and would be funny to watch people crazily running around the map changing the colors.

    2) Keep the map like it is.... but script it so that the outer "octagons" gradually fall to the ground (whether built or unbuilt) at increasing pace until finally both sides are forced to fight over a tiny area in the middle (would probably be better if the central hill were removed).

To be perfectly honest, Mr Bluesky, I always had a negative impression of you for some reason and thought that you were unintelligent in-game.

However, that is perhaps one of the most bright and thoughtful suggestions any of my novelty maps have ever received, and I see now that my first impressions of you were entirely inaccurate. You now have a special place in my heart.

I won't promise implementation of the above suggestions (albeit I do like them), however I will give some serious consideration to number 2.

May you go forth and build many octagons, my friend.

The first is a pretty cool idea, but on the mappers side it would take forever to do, because you'd have to make 3 outputs for every single octagon, and we can just say thats like 200 octagons or something, probably more, so 200 x 3 would mean you'd have to do 600 individual outputs.

    Yes do it please.

Or make a version of rainbowroad composed of buildable rectangular blocks and named as "emp_rainbowsquares".

And let me add that you'd have to do 3 actions for each output, and an extra one for parameters. so that would be 600 x 3 which would be 1800 actions. if you put in the parameters and having to press the "add output" button, it would account to be 600 x 5 actions which would be a whopping 3000 actions for every single octagon, and each action would take some time because you'd have to find the octagon of choice. and to add onto that we'd also have to name each octagon, so it could be 6 actions per octagon, which would be 600 x 6, which would be 3600 actions!

If it takes you a second for each action, you'll be done in an hour. Kthxbai

only the parameters, name, and add output, the others take a couple more seconds. but dude, a whole hour of doing that, i'd rather kill myself.

That must be why you're not a mapper. :p

Though Varbles has a point; paste special would save considerable time. (Well, if an hour or two is considerable.)
