Octagons Version: Beta 1 By: John Shandy` Octagons is my latest novelty map, featuring 549 blocks, the majority of which are buildable. Players and commanders must build their way across the map in whatever configuration they please, in order to capture and exploit the central territories and overwhelm the enemy. wtf.... looks like it could be awesome.... can we builds on top of them? I want floating MGs! Can the middle parts be blown up.. looks like maby you destroy the red parts to get into middle.
Engineers can't build or drop anything on the buildable blocks. However, commanders can place everything except walls on the buildable blocks. The red blocks are lifts that elevate players to the first level of the center mountain.
I de-virginized your map with a win ...just thought I'd let you know. PS: Its a very fresh map, an interesting concept with excellent execution!
Wow i never noticed that, ROFL, btw there are ways to allow players to build on the blocks but that would require a few days of work. Not to mention the huge ent data that would build up, i'll see if i can work out a system that would allow this to be done simply but copy/pasta
I could try to add some code support, but what would happen if the block under the building dies? Building falling down wouldnt look right. Building just taking damage and floating for some seconds seems wrong too and building just disappearing doesn't seem better.
1) Add flag to engy constructables: "Can Place Engy Buildings" 2) When constructable destroyed: Blow up turret as normal (like if it got seismic'd) 3) Remove constructable only after the turrets are gone.
On emp_snowbound, they just float there. It's awesome. I feel like I have a moat and shit, in my castle rax. Also Shandy, you should rename it to emp_sexagons. Because they are hexagons, and this map is awesome.
As it stands, emp_eng_map_brush lets commanders place all structures except walls. Only engineers can't place their structures. At the very least, it would be nice if Engineers could drop ammo boxes on them. Also, it is my understanding that in 2.24 & 2.25, Grenadiers cannot drop mines on emp_eng_map_brush entities unless they first click while on a normal brush or displacement, and then release while on a buildable. If my memory serves me correctly, this wasn't always the case, because I swear we used to 9-mine the bridge on emp_slaughtered without having to click over land and release over the bridge - we used to just be able to cilck and release while on the bridge. In any case, it'd be nice if Grenadiers could place mines on buildables, regardless of whether it worked in the past or not. Like all of my other maps, this map is a science experiment - Hammer wasn't used. Beakers, flasks, petri dishes, and bunsen burners are what I use to make my maps. ? The map is named after its octagons.
