You can make static props become invisible after some distance. It helped a lot with crossroads. Distant props must have LOD or fade away.

keef has done this, decompiled it to double check, he's pretty good about making the maps fps friendly. Only thing i can say for dubee is, get a new computer dude, 128bit grahpics just doesn't cut it man.

I get little to no frame drop at any point in time with a steady 70-80 fps on a 8600 gts and a 65-70 on a 7950 gt, will be checking this out on my laptop that has a 9600m gt. All average grahpics cards, nothing special about them and no overclocking.

Looks good so far, and you already know about the two main things, and yes change up the rope bridges, i've got some prefab'd ones, i'll upload those when i get home for ya, made them back when the community project was still going on.

I mean its really not even that much better looking. I can understand if it was a huge graphical improvement. It just looks like the same map with more stuff and weird bridges. The map was never broken and I thought the whole idea behind changing it was to move the dam to the top.

Get a new comp is your solution to breaking a map that worked fine? A lot of people on viper said they lost over 30 FPS too. It's really not a great idea to say fuck people with old computers when working on an old, free mod. This isn't the type of game you can afford to lose people over, and trust me your not bringing in new people with the incredible new map graphics.

I just wanted to (or someone) make sure that he did it. :P And Dubee replace your ancient computer. No rhetoric tricks will make it faster.

Like most other people with old comps, I would rather just stop playing. The games not worth a new comp, plus a new comp will be old in a few weeks. It works fine for everything I need it for.

I'm just saying what that map does for me. Wether or not the server was lagging I dunno, But I don't lag like that on other keef maps.

If you're going to take screenshots comparing them, take it from the same spot ffs.

I have to agree with dubee here.

From what I have seen, keef's changes shouldn't have caused as drastic an FPS drop as what is being reported, so I would assume there is something wrong here that is not neccessarily keefs fault.

Even so, I like what you are doing keef, keep it up. :)

You should take it from the same spot looking at the same thing. fps changes from looking at different areas even if your in the same spot.

They aren't in the same spot at all Dubee. Not even slightly.

Lol calm down, they are both in the BE base rite near the rax. I dunno how that's not even slightly. I will take more facing the same way when I get off work.

In one screenshot, you're looking at a skybox, a rax and a bit of terrain. In the other, you're capturing the middle, all the stuff in the distance and quite a few models.

It's like looking forward, then looking at the ground whilst prone, and complaining of an FPS drop when you look up again.

Well I just took a random photo near BE base to show the FPS difference. It wasn't changing my framerate to look around like the new one does. I'll take some when I get home tho.

Take images of the same locations and compare FPS, rather than taking an image of one tiny corner of the map for the old mvalley and then taking images of water-filled areas for the new mvalley.

    Damnit, must read more thread.

Edit: Double-dangit! KEEEEEEEEEEEEF! You moved the ENTIRE map!
    Image 1
    Image 2
Look at the position coords in the upper right! Look at them! You're-a killin a-me!
