ohh don't get dragged down by all the comments on your maps dude. People are thankful for the new maps, rest assured of that. They are just asking for changes but, they still like your maps. I do like this map as well, we just ask for changes. Asking for changes and demanding are different things. Do not take the asks as demands. Do not feel obligated to make the changes. You should never feel like you HAVE to make a change that was asked for. If you feel that way it should be because you genuinely felt it would improve something, not because someone wanted it done. hmm... I feel all weird typing that out. eww.
Oh, no worries. I knew full well before each of the maps I've made or contributed to that there'd be lovers, haters, and those in between. I'm not bothered - but I am physically tired of mapping (Hammer/Compiling/Pakrating/Uploading for tests on a shitty connection, etc.) and mentally bored of mapping. I kind of wish I could "unmake" a few, like rainbowroad. When I feel like getting around to it, I will probably at least do the following: -Reduce maximum goals to 3 (from 6). -Reduce the maximum vehicle limit (at least until Empires 2.25's optimizations come about). -Reduce emp_sv_vehicle_fadeout_time to 5 (from 20). -Remove sv_alltalk 1 from the map config (right now, alltalk is enabled by default). -Reduce emp_sv_respawn_penalty to perhaps 5 or lower (from 10). Other changes are still up in the air, but the above are what I consider immediately acceptable.
When I compare the server config then emp_sv_respawn_penalty is already at 5 seconds. http://v3.game-monitor.com/GameServerCompare/67.228.3.34:27015/81.19.209.199:27015/ And gameplay on rainbowroad can be nice, when you don't have a retarded commander and about 50% or more of team members actually knows how to drive a tank. Of course on even teams NF needs a small miracle to win against physics BE.
Well in b1 it isn't removed - if it's not on while you're playing b1, then that's an admin turning it off or a server removing it from the map's config. I plan to remove it for future versions because, even though the micspam was tolerable & the team rivalry was fun, it has become a bit much in practice and so I'm going to leave it off by default and then if players want they can vote or ask an admin to turn on alltalk.
I dunno... i just seems like a really fun but not at all deep map just to mess around with your mates on... it's pretty bad potentially having to do that in silence. or even worse... take it seriously. on the other hand i havn't played it or witnessed the mic spam so i dunno.
Sandbag, Just because alltalk will be off doesn't mean you must play the map in silence. Alltalk is when you can hear and communicate with everyone in the server over a single voice channel. Even with it off, you'll be able to communicate with your team and your friends. Also, admins will be able to turn alltalk on, and have players vote for it, etc.
Alright I have a better idea....merge it with rainbowroad to make EMP_RAINBOWCUP! If the ball falls off, its transported back onto the road. Much hilarity would ensue!
