I'd rather go with option 1, but if it comes down to it, put the rain in, update the manifest!

I started up my old monsters (old pc's i have) One has a FX5200 and other has a 6900 GTOC, both got about 60 fps using the default video settings in game with rain, there wasn't any change with or without the rain.

    That's awesome :D
Maybe we can enable it by default.
Keef, get to work, find some ambience and change the fog settings!

There was never and issue with the rain being laggy it just not trjely ready without fog, ambience, lighting and skybox. And I just didn't find the missing particle effect thing all that big of a deal. Anyone competent enough could enable it if they wanted to see what it looked like

    :)

Which entity do you use to create particles?

I don't give a shit about manual playing with scripts or anything like this. Default version of the map that is in SVN has to work WITHOUT ASSERTS. If you really want to add these things I can create these particles with cvar enabled only.

If you won't correct the map, I'll just revert it.
