sexy, but I would make the bridges look overly sexy. like crazy cylindrical supports and gothic angles and stuff. The focal point of this map is it's bridges that kind of connect both sides, I think that aspect should be focused on.
Indeed. Yeah, I think the bridges need more work, but I'm not sure what to add to them. I thought railings would make it look better, but I think railing-less bridges have better gameplay.
Hey Jephir. I haven't played this map yet but I love the fact that it's based off of Battlezone II's bridges map. I played Battlezone on heat in 1996 and 1.4 until it died off about 2 years ago. I played Bz2 quite a bit too so I really appreciate this map! Can't wait to play it! Is Empires based off of the Battlezone series games? It seems to be. I figure it might be based off of Bz and World of Warcraft. Is that assumption correct?
Good point. In order to comply with local laws, the next version of emp_bridges will come with destructible railings. I can't wait to play it either! Bridges was my favourite map from BZ2. I hope to convert some other maps to Empires in the future as well. Empires is based off of Battlefield 1942. The original Empires was a mod for that game. I've always thought of Empires being a natural evolution of the Battlefield games, similar to how Battlefield was the natural evolution of the traditional first-person shooter.
- You evidently need to compile using the Empires version of vbsp, or at least pick a texture for the bridge that isn't parallax mapped. As it is now, the bridges are eerily fullbright. - I've also learned what happens to a map with no spawnpoints: It crashes. The game. - Also, your choice of water texture is just plain bad. - Can't wait for a version that's actually playable.
Unfortunately, no. Carve seems to be causing performance problems on large maps so I am using displacements for now. In the future I may release an alternative version created purely with carve. The mapsrc is included in the download. Feel free to do anything with it (that goes for everyone too). Ah, thanks for this! I will do a re-compile this evening with Empires vbsp. I can load and play the map fine, at what point do you crash? I know, it really needs to be changed. BumGravy helped with the dispgen mapping. The first version of this map was actually made a long time ago. I haven't heard from him since.

We're seriously considering porting some of the Bz1.4 maps to Empires. Canyon's, 4 Corners, Ice Ice Baby, and of course Colli and 'pick a ship'. I find it odd that this game doesn't have a base from Battlezone at all. A lot of it is very similar. I didn't play BF long enough to know the comparison. I've mad a ton of content for Battlezone. Never made anything from scratch for source. So I have a learning curve to tackle.
I'm going to make you a prefab for the command vehicles, they will have your spawnpoints and a commander-controlled turret.
