I would say that it either needs to be darker, foggier, or both. It would be more interesting if visibility was cut down.

Hey arklansman why don't you try to placate them an do a quick change to how every one what it looks like in a blizzard... Though I think if they thought about the noobs complaining about the "bug" of it snowing indoors they would drop it.

As long it doesn't go overboard with all the little particle smog effects (like duststorm & earlier versions of money). Why not just reduce the draw distance & add white "distance" fog & add light smog effects.

I really have no problems with this map as it's the only map that runs in the 35-50 FPS range for me. :)

i like the background, but it doesn't feel right with the snow textures
maybe new desert textures would be better
and i mean a sand desert not a ice desert

Yes, the map needs fog. Or a blizzard. Preferebly a blizzard. Last version wasn't that bad for FPS.

why not just have it snowing, I think you just use the same method as making it rain but change the sprites you use.

It needs to be a real hard know. A blizzard where you can't see 10 feet in front of you. If badlands doesn't have that poor View distance it's known for, then this map is forever shit.

You can't do much more than very light snow in a large area. I had it snowing at one point but forgot to add it back. :P

Ok. for the sake of the future of the map. I'll just say it.

No one CARES how you(arklansman) think badlands should be in terms of building it. People WANT badlands for how it SHOULD look.

If it runs at 10 fps on an nVidia Geforce 2mx too fucking bad for them.
Source has come a long way and so has technology. In fact, the new orange box code should be a hell of a lot more optimized.

    Just do this.
1: Limit view distance like you see on emp_railroad or whatever the fuck it's called.
2: Add snow sprites. Lots. and have them move fast.
3: Add blizzard sounds in the map.
    4: ?????
    5: Profit

    The End

See, no one cares about optimizations at this point in time. Build the map first for how it SHOULD BE, then fix it later.

I ran the original badlands on an nVidia GForce 4mx 64mb graphics card on my old comp and good settings. It ran perfectly.

For gods sake fix the damn map and make it "Ican'tsee10feeinfrontofmyfuckingface!Badlands" and not "where'ssanta?Badlands"

I like being able to see

With some more cover it'd be a really good map

Snow can be done with func_precipitation, but you'll have to be careful with it. Read the article, it explains how to use it properly.

The problem with func_precipitation is that you can't change the sprite. Snow is barely visible on maps like glycencity.

I would do that if it were possible, you can't do more than very light snow without it crashing, as I've already said. If anyone who knows anything about mapping has a solution, I'll be happy to hear it.
