Of fucking course it is, they are trying to jump start a new franchise and IP. It's all in or nothing, especially when they have the people who have made Microsoft billions. The eventual pc release will happen when they realize the game works better with mouse and keyboard. Not to mention have 60 frames.
If activision-blizzard pumps 500 million into a game you can be sure that its shallow, dumped down and tries to appeal to everyone.
Activision would make a killing if they got into cinema, I would watch everything if it means high quality cinematics that we expect from blizzard.
Calm down guys, it's Activision-Blizzard, not Activision and Blizzard. I'm highly certain Blizzard doesn't touch anything outside of their IP, and Activision are where the decision makers and shareholders are. It's like saying Bethesda are going to make groundbreaking games because they own Id.
Yeah, but if it's over ten years, then it's not really a $500 million budget TODAY. Time value of money, bitches. A dollar ten years from now is worth a ton less than a dollar today.
I love how confident they are that the game will remain popular enough to last 10 years. Yes they made halo, but that became big because it was a launch title for the first xbone and there was nothing quite like it at the time. Right now, this can blend into the other hundred sci-fi coop console shooters. What in the fuck makes them think this will sell half as well any one of them. I guess a fifth of that budget will go to aggressive marketing. Get ready to have destiny all over your fucking bus stops, tv ads and fucking snickers bars.
But please skip everything that is not an action scene. Blizzard is such a master at storytelling, dialog and screen writing in general. Edit: Im not sure if blizzard is still the king of game cinematics. It feels more like that bliz quality cinematics is the industry standard now. I recently watched the elder scrolls mmorpg cinematics and they have at least the same quality.
