cvar exploit of the century!

I was messing with some of the cvars, trying to get a higher framerate. I saw a command that looked interesting, so I typed it in the console. None of the building's physics worked. I typed in another command, and they were magically fixed. Obviously, I am not going to post the command. If a mod would PM me I would be more than happy to tell you what the commands are. I have seen someone use these about a week before, as well. Now I know how they did it.

 

If it's a server command (which it is pretty much guaranteed to be), it won't be a problem.

 

I ran it from my computer. I think it was meant to be a server command, but I did it on the ON|E and BSID servers, and it worked both times.

 

would it not make more sense to pm them with exploits exploits?

 

It works on all servers though. It is a client-side command, that causes a change in the server. They can't really do anything about it to keep people from using it on their server.

 

but they can code it out of the game. It's a benefit of being a developer?

I will get right on making a server side patch for this. This is a huge deal.

Yeah I saw some guy doing this on the BSID server one time. I don't remember his name though. He said he was messing with console commands but nobody believed him.

We all just thought it was a side effect of the lag right before the server crashed. Which happened about 2 minutes later.

Are we naming exploits in honor of people who find and report them? I vote it be henceforth known as "The Stu Exploit"!

 

Actually, I reported it as soon as I found it. There was someone who figured it out before me, but he was exploiting it. That was like a week or two ago as well.

 

We have no benefits.

Krenzo told me all about it, man was it a huge exploit and I wish I had known about it before so I too could reak havoc. Ill tell you the extent of it after all the servers have the new patch.

Yeah, I first encountered this when someone was using it on our server I think, I forgot to post anything about it, and the person gave me the commands.

 

Ah well, cat and the bag have been seperated it would seem. Yes, anyone was able to run server commands via the console for some reason. You could kick the commander, or the other teasm commander, turn off physics, etc. A patch was needed ASAP to correct this problem.
