Skyfall's rock/metal cover by some Israeli band is my pick. I can't remember the band name though.

I'd crack my knuckles but I can't do it in the impressive Hollywood style.

    Watch this space.

I'd like to point out that the black mages has the original composer of those songs, nobuo uematsu, as a band member. I guess it's still a cover of sorts, but I get the feeling its more like how he might have wanted to do it but was limited for whatever reason.

Yeah he plays keys and gets way too excited at live shows. He could have done an all out rock score for FFVII-onwards because they were on disc and the point of discs over cartridges was more storage for higher quality audio (hence why N64 was all MIDI and Playstation was fucking glorious.)

The covers that Johnny Cash did were pretty damn good.

Thank you, Just Cause 3, for introducing me to this cover.

Whilst it's difficult to beat The Prodigy's original, this track is amazing in its own way.

Linsey Stirling is quite awesome indeed, moving around like that and playing like it's nothing (Not talking about that video in particullar either, just check what she's producing), looking stunning just adds to that.

Some good stuff in this thread

Since you mentioned All along the watchtower, I really loved the Battlestar Galactica version. (I also love pretty much anything from that composer Bear McCreary)

The song really starts at about 2:10, before that is rather intro. No video clip though.

Done by Bear McCreary, singer is his brother Brendan McCreary.
Bear makes a lot of TV show soundtracks (Walking dead, Defiance, etc...)

    Or
    The Live version

btw, BSG best TV Series ever xD

Lifeforce's version of Further is one of my favourite songs but I don't like VNV Nations original =P
