I am going to assume that because you are the programmer you know whether this can be implemented or not. In which case please do, this sounds real handy. Sometimes the minimap can be a bit messy and hard to tell who is asking for what, when all I get is a a3 or d5 reference.

He probably tried implementing it himself, failed, and now is suggesting it to Candles. :D

I can't believe some lispy mother fucker has single handedly saved empires from a drunk navy nuclear technician.

Next thing you know we will have working aircraft and models.

If it's just a VGUI panel, I can probably make it clickable in no time. This feature will have to wait until the GUI revamp, though.

Voice status? Do you mean when you talk the icon that flashes up with your name? Wouldn't that be really hard to do...I mean, sometimes people say things really shortly...

It still would be cool, of course.

Another thing that might be interesting, is if you could have like a side queue of who had last spoken. Like...I mean if you're actually able to make that clickable, you could have a sidebar which lists the last 3 names or so that used voice communication, so you wouldn't have to keep asking after that brief important message that you missed.

I think he means the icons in the scoreboard. But as far as I know, clicking those is the mute function.

Just so we're clear, this is what I had in mind, although being able to click on the person in the scoreboard is also a good idea.

Man, if I knew how to address two different screens, I could probably place shitloads of stuff like this on the other screen for the comm (players would probably benefit from a minimap, objectives, research in progress, etc.)

I am not even sure Source supports 2 screens in full screen mode. <.<
Oculus Rift would suggest it does, since it's basically just two screens, but still...

The only game that comes to mind that did this was Supreme Commander.

Yeah some quick googling shows that Source doesn't appreciate even multi-monitor setups by itself, you need EyeFinity or some Matrox stuff for it to play nice. I'll have a look at rendering the primary viewport somewhere and then rendering some VGUI stuff elsewhere. Might be easy or hard, might impact performance or might not, no idea.

I hate this problem so much.

    (@0) Person: REF
Me: "Where do you need the ref?"
(@0) Person: YOU FUCKING IDIOT LOOK NEXT TO MY NAME IT HAS THE LOCATION

Yes I have had that exact conversation with a player before.

i never use locations, i just look at the map there usually aint more then two options where you could place a ref and its not hurting if you place both anyways ...
but it think it would be even faster if people would get used to stating where they are - "ref nw" isnt much more to type but saves you a bit of time ;)
