If the turret doesn't die faster than the tank then there is no point making it take damage at all, the turret is a tiny target and you'll be fighting at high speed with weapons that have travel time and probably firing delay if you have any sort of raised ping, so it's going to be ludicrously hard to hit them. If there isn't a point in shooting the small target with the inaccurate gun then nobody is going to do it, therefore turrets have to be the 'head' of the tank and turret shots have to equate to headshots for there to be any point in having turret damage at all.
Since when are tank cannons inaccurate. You always hit the same pixel if you aim at the same spot = accurate... If people can shot infantry with the tank canon while driving at high speed it would be no problem to hit a turret.
Er, no they don't, quite a few have actual random deflection, and you have to correct after every shot so you can't aim at the same spot exactly, and I don't know anyone who can shoot infantry from the distance you would shoot a tank, or very many people who can shoot infantry and kill them fast enough to make killing a tank area that size feasible, they might be able to catch them in the splash but not hit them directly, and infantry move much much slower than tanks, and they are usually a good deal lower than your tank, so you can splash them more easily, tank turrets would either be direct hit or overshoot/hit the side of the tank.
Yeah they def shoot the same spot every time as long as your in the same spot. I use it for reference all the time like to hit the entrance of the rax my crosshair needs to be 2 pixels from top of rax or w/e
i think what you mean is that when tank is moving, shells fly in a curved line, but when stationary it flies straight edit: ontopic i think this idea is too complex, and it can make it easier to grief your team also i dont like the idea of slowly moving turrets , it would be too easy to get around it anyways
I think slow moving doesnt mean slooooooooooooooooooow. Like 2 seconds to make 180 degree turn for the heavy is enough.
Good points - It adds more options - Turrets cant instant spin Bad points - Balance may be an issue, but no more than it already is Not sure about this one, but maps like escort will have a lot changed if this is added. how? bumpers need to be researched.
I say yes to this ingenious idea of seperated turrets, with seperated damage! it stops the base rape, when that gren with awesome aim destroys the nuke launcher, its stops the infantry rape when that tank gren destroys the 50.cal! vote for it, vote for it nao while supplys last! oh and it cost money to get another turret replacement, MAUHAHAHAHAHAHA.
All of which is piss easy to completely avoid by simply not parking the tanks, thus completely invalidating any possible merit this suggestion has.
DU, BioML, Homing, Guided, PlasmaMG(Overhate then kill the turret), HEMG, Rails, Can we all stop acting so negative and ultra-conservative?
Cannons ARE inaccurate. Though, tank turrets are decently large targets compared to, say, a human head.
Turret armor would be completely different from tank armor. It wouldnt have plates like normal armor but would act just like a hull (starts out green, turns colors as it takes dmg) With turrets having thier own dmg you now have the choice to take out the turret and make the tank leave or try to take out the chasis and blow up the tank. Interchangeable turrets give alot more flexibility to chasis so you could make a Tank destroyer if you like by dropping an open top turret on a med tank, etc When I talk about turret speed I dont mean 3 mins to rotate a turret, simply slower or faster than it is now. It would be tweaked.
I like the idea as a gren cause I've always wanted a tank to have a weak spot or a spot to try an hit for more damage or somthing like that. I was thinking back in the day maybe the back side of a tank would always be limited to only a certain amount of plates but I don't really care for that now. I also like the idea of a set speed for a turret to spin instead of them turning around all like they are made of paper. I think tanks with slow turrets seem more powerful.
As megel said its not about making turrets super slow, imo 2 seconds for a 180 degree turn is ok on a heavy.
It's not. We had slow turret movement and it was changed to just use mouse sensitivity. There might be something slightly wrong with interpolation of turret's angles at the moment but it can be fixed.
