Played it, seen it, captured middle flag more times than I can count. Or at least some older version of it I guess. I don't remember it being any less of an artyfest But I honestly can't say whether the refs were spread or not.
Speaking of bad gameplay, can escort just be removed altogether? Sheeiii who am I kidding this will never happen. Can you just greatly reduce BE tickets and make the map 10-15 minutes and not any longer? Just give BE heavies and good weapons, but greatly reduce the time they have to win. Why maps like escort need to be longer than 30 minutes just makes no fucking sense to me. There is not a single good reason for why escort needs to be longer than 15 minutes. Give me any reason why and its guaranteed to be an idiotic one.
Keep it I have always liked playing it, you just have to learn to develop a strategy on it. If you are BE, push like Hell. I often find myself screaming into the mike push push... If you are NF, well, not going to tell you what to do, it should be pretty obvious. p.s.: See Hobbes for one thing you should be doing NF.

hobbes goes after BE's vf every single time. If you didn't see him play com maps, you'd think it was his purpose in life.
What's the respawn timer on that anyway? It feels short, like it only lasts 2-3 minutes or something.
I guess your purpose in life must be sucking at Empires, then. If you suck at actual combat, revive and ninja really are the only valuable jobs for you, on Escort.
going ninja on emp_escort and putting up the wall is my second favorite thing in empires #1 is sniper wars across the bridge on emp_slaughtered
You can also make everything a shotgun and develop empires around your skills in an attempt to become a decent player.
I do mostly suck at empires. sneaking around and boomtanking is the only thing I am (arguably) capable of. I am usually pretty aware of the map and drop stuff fast too. aiming accurately at people and pressing the fire button faster is something I am not very practiced at. Other people are usually better at that than I am. Too much console gaming has ruined my basic PC gaming mechanics. understanding people and anticipating their actions interests me much more.
understanding people and anticipating their actions, Is literally a huge skill in team sports. It's usually labeled as "awareness" or other rubbish terms but this is a skill that they don't scout for enough. It's also under-appreciated.
