Binary is right for a change. The problem with empires a lot of the times is the ammount of people speccing normal games. I've had many times where I Was like hey 30 people on empires lets go play, just to arrive and see its 7v7 and 16 are in spec discussing some stupid ass shit like burritos or tacobell or anything irrelevant which they could do in teamspeak cause they never join a map anyway and basicly just sit in spec an hour and leave.
I like escord, but do remove district please, whenever I join a game, district is on, there's counterstrike for this type of gameplay.
We have more trolls than you think, some players don't even know what they voted. rtv doesn't usually succeed anyway, regardless of the map. I did see quite a few successful rtv against escort. Most other maps literally never gets rtv'd, especially when there's decent number of players. New players don't care, a few vets would actually quit. For most of the other players, they just don't have better things to do with their life. But if escort's balance can be improved, I wouldn't support its removal.
Wait, why not make the numbers that correspond to maps different for each player? That way, when people say "33333" in chat, then people randomly obeying don't skew the vote as much. Oops. That was quite a serious boner (2) on my end. I've fixed it now.
Vicki new players don't know the maps, and you have assholes typing "VOTE escort" into the chat. The reality is that very few people here like the map and it gets nominated to piss us off and make us leave the server. All the time. If I get 20 people in here saying they don't like the map, then you have proof nobody here likes it and it gets troll voted all the time. And the map needs some serious work.
You're all missing the fundamental problem here. Escort generally wins with around 30% of the vote, which means there's a good chance it's winning because everyone else is split on other maps. If we got canyon, duststorm, mvalley, crossroads and escort all in a vote, it's likely that escort will win simply because the people who wouldn't want to play escort get split across four maps. I think going back to run-off voting would solve most of the issues involving "escort > district > money" cycles.
Now that i think about it, when was it changed last time anyway? I mean, the more i think about it, the more im certain that this version completely blows in comparison to the older one. Sure its got some improvements here and there, but fuck all of that infinite resource and explosion-goes-through grating stuff. I remember nf being able to win at the first flag if be didnt actually get their shit together. The what voting?
Wait so, more people agree on escort than canyone duststorm and mvalley? Also few mapvotes I have seen where those 3 are available... non actually. oh you mean this? Yea, doable. Escort isn't fucked if BE get their shit together, but I think the resources should ramp up ridiculously fast rather than starting infinite. BE having all tanks before NF can lay mines and get skills is rather bad, that's my only problem with it right now. Otherwise NF just has to try hard, and I think they do fine. Could make the wall for the last NF flag (the one that seperates the grass form the concrete) a hell of a lot stronger, like 10x stronger. Then it would actually be useful.
That's why in civilized countries you don't vote kings or presidents but a representative parliament that has all the power. Edit: So how about the mapvote isn't about a map but about the person that gets to decide which map to play?
i agree. escort is the equivalent of the prime minister of canada. nobody wants him, but somehow he is prime minister
Now if you guys want to remove escort and stop playing it, next time you play and there is a number of people on viper or epic. Shill this thread and post a chatlog of them saying they want to remove this from map rotation or don't. We have most of the people who participate on the forums, now we need the people who play. I want a sheet of paper of definite amount of people who want to play escort and don't.
I think the best way to do voting is ( keeping in mind keeping the same system kind of ). Nomination of maps gets priority. As of now the system is, you nominate the map, the map gets added to the maps that were going to go in the vote in the first place. So 1. canyon 2. escort 3. mvalley, 4. coast 5. nominated map. What should happen is nominated maps should come on top first. Making nominated map 1st on the list. Also add in a max number of maps going into the vote I'd suggest 4 because of the system I'm going to suggest down below. Also count the nominations since they get priority. At the end of every round we should get 4 maps in the vote. Nominated maps and if there arent any non nominated maps ( cycle maps ). The voting should become a 3 round vote. Every round the map with the least votes gets dropped off. This shouldn't take that long + having to vote an extra minute instead of playing 30 minutes of something you dont like is better. How it looks like 1st round 15 players 1. Canyon 3 votes 2. escort 5 votes 3. mvalley 3 votes 4. coast 2 vote 2 people who forgot to vote 2nd round coast got eliminated least votes, because of the extra voting time people will realise there is a vote and the 2 non votees start to vote 15 players 1. Canyon 5 votes 2. escort 6 votes 3. mvalley 4 3rd round and final one mvalley drops of because least votes 1. canyon 9 votes 2. escort 6 votes canyon wins , everyone wins except dirty escort pickers. gg wp
Are you nuts? Like even skipping the multiple other problems, do you really want to fragment the playerbase? I mean shit, if youd have that system 5 years ago, youd have epic all voting t all the time and youd never play anything beside dustorm. Now imagine this happening with some of the lolrandumb people instead. Have fun with that rainbowroad 24/7. It might be liked by maybe a 10%, but they can and will vote the one figurehead that will get them what they want.
I'm against. Every map kills the population if it comes upat the wrong time and district is much worse to me for straight up, predicatable grinding that almost always ends the same way, in extra time. Regardless of its balance (which I don't think is that bad to be honest) it can still be fun for either side. You can still play as infantry on BE if that flicks your switches. Server population is much more dependant on the population itself. Some people are going to play all night, others will be playing for 3-4 rounds. If escort comes up in the middle of their run they might decide to go early but they were never going to stay that long anyway. Those people would just as likely left on any non-classic or linear classic map.
