Didn't take a screen of the error however I get this in the console. I got kicked from the game because of a buffer overflow or some shit. Happened on cyclopean. Code: Bad pstudiohdr in GetSequenceLinearMotion()! It said this over and over 100 times. It kicked me, Vicki, and Neony out of the game and it appeared we suicided on the kill feed. Vicki sent the error to candles, according to him its a common source error. So im documenting this if appears to come up again for anyone else.
He meant, any models changed in the game update recently? He is not asking about mods. Unless you teef are just trolling, lol Models /= mods I also had 2 random crashes of empires since some of the updates. There was no error and no dump files. Both crashes I was inside a vehicle (once tank once apc) and there was a shootout. (2 crashes 1 playing session, over the last weekend, in 1 day) No idea if anyhow related to the buffer overflow, probably not. But those are the 2 things that seem to happen since some of the last updates. I had a little break of empires, so I cant surely say when it was still ok. So no idea which update might have started those issues.
Anyway, after checking the screenshot with that error. The error happened at the very beginning of the round. Even before I picked any class. But without further error. It might also very much just not be related. I just never seen such error in empires. I know that buffer overflow in Gmod was happening when there was way too many props and basically too many of everything happening and thats when I or others got this error. Was mostly happening when somebody wanted to join though, rather than kicking those who are already joined. (too much to proccess at the same time?) There must be some kind of leak of data or some. (In computer security and programming, a buffer overflow, or buffer overrun, is an anomaly where a program, while writing data to a buffer, overruns the buffer's boundary and overwrites adjacent memory. This is a special case of violation of memory safety.) I know in gmod, the fix that sometimes worked for people was using myinfo_bytes 8192 into console. Though, there is also a difference if the error was just "buffer overflow" or "buffer overflow in net message". Iam not sure if it mentioned net message but I think not.
I think the nfhr animation was tweaked in 2.6.1 and the shotgun animations were tweaked a couple versions ago.
hmm..Besides 3 hands in the BE v models I'm not seeing an issue. The "Bad pstudiohdr in GetSequenceLinearMotion()!" is kind of generic. Is this just on viper ???
When the buffer error happened, my game froze up for a few seconds as if I had lost connection. I didn't get kicked out though.
Running a listen server on emp_nuclear_b8j, me and extrems were just chilling when another person finished loading up and now the console is being flooded with badpstudio.
Im a bit feeling concerned about this,it could be a exploit causing people to disconnect form servers. We really dont want that. Also yes,i was not in the last empires games due to blockland.
If it was an exploit, somebody would have to do something, which should be viewable in server logs. Unless its just caused by something ingame other than a console command. I personally dont think its somebody doing it.
