Your suggestion for moving ammo makes it unholdable, the wrist needs to fit behind the grip. Major clipping would ensue.
The general design of this looks like it all pops out of the main body. I think to make this more unique, the animation of pulling this out should have the wepaon extending. The butt extends out the back, barrel out the front. It looks like it does that in the concept, but meh. Just think it would look awesome to have Brenodi retracting weapons. It could even be a theme for the new designs. Using their superior tech, BE weapons can be stored much more compactly by retracting aspects like the barrel and the butt.
Battery and ammo pack need to be one thing, not two things. Less moving parts, less stuff to do while reloading. I like the general shape though. Sure, it's a magnetic coil gun. But seeing as we have WW1 tanks, and there is a white shiny SMG, Swiss-Army-Ipods that do anything and everything in this game, Mayama's design is fine. Looks cool, make it happen. Try recreating it in 3d, even Google SketchUp is fine there. Look at it from first-person view, since that is what counts in an FPS-game weapon. Does this "work" and "look" like a shotgun firing, when being fired?
To load shells, something similar to the TF2 scout scattergun. All the shells are in storage within the gun. To chamber rounds the user pulls back on the forward grip, making the barrel slide back into the body, grabbing the shells and chambering them. Thoughts? I can make an animated gif if people are having difficulty understanding what I'm saying.
The magazine holds lose metal balls, smaller than a pea. Those metal balls get pushed into the barrel where the magnetic coils push it forward. It works more like a very powerfull vacuum cleaner on reverse. You can adjust how many metal balls per second are pushed into the barrel. Less balls means more accuracy but low damage.
It's not solid metal. It's all on the nano level. None of it replaces muscles and bones, it just enhances the natural abilities.
^so same result in this case, using a rather heavy gun with no problem, right? the fact that it shoots loose pellets instead of shells goes great with the idea of alt fire changing the choke.
Couldn't we give BE chaingun they were showing on Modern Warfare on Discovery? HE rounds are compulsory. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3303808722580605996
New design in the same style as shotgun concept 1. The foregrip is a ring, like the grip on top of a chainsaw, the soldier usually holds that grip on the left side with his left hand.
i feel like the ring should come on top not at the bottom or it will be weird and clumsy to carry imagine carrying a chainsaw upside down
