Aiit, so i just did a first compile of the NF one, it have interiors and crap to but it lacks anny detail and got borked light, so no screens of that Northern faction sky blimpthingy in all it's glory! A peak into the hangars wich will have a pair of elevators that can actually move, the area beneth is fully burshed up but lighted improperly Showing some more detail of the center pice of the blimp Stylish screen of a section of the NF blimp and the imperial airthingy Basicly, it's two airstrips with four baloons with the other stuff that might be needed bolted to them as it's built right now, i'm gona add more fans and some more controle structures to the center soon to make it feel more beliveble The idea is that it's built for landing aircraft in the sky with the rest just added wherever there was space, not safety or looks in contrast to the more thought-through design of the imperial one More screens will come whenver i manage to build stuff worth showing!
If the BE fans are destroyable objectives (which would be really fun TBH), then the NF blimb sacs should have double the fan's health because there's only two. I would LOVE to see a round of emp_blimbs end with a death cam focusing on an exploding fan on the BE airship while a powering down and sputtering sound gives the impression that the Brenodi behemoth is about to fall out of the sky. EDIT: I like these new screens, Grizzly. I REALLY want to fight on those blimbs. What if we made an alternate version of the map where the two collided and there's infantry combat to capture both? Or keep the Imp airship just above the NF blimb and make it an NF defense map?
Theres four sacks This is what iv'e been planning, and it's pretty easy to get working ingame to using the game_end command Tbh using dropships and having the goal to be infiltration would be really fun, also somthing iv'e conciderd, but the exact details need to be worked out annywas :p
its essentially the same as the BE one, but with balloons instead of fans. maybe make the NF one a 2 floor instead, to make it more blimp like, and more importantly, different from its BE counterpart.
it looks jolly but maybe like it was the BE with fans swapped for balloons, if you pivoted the balloons down underneath the runways it could look rather different (and more like the ones earlier inthe thread maybe). There'd also be more room to make them bigger (if you wanted) - even if the inside was a vacuum they look a tiny bit on the small side to me to support a bit thingy. unless empires metal is light. oh, i've just remembered jeeps picking up big tanks - its fine :0)
Iv'e conciderd adding another set of large baloons to the underside of the nf airthing to make it look like it's more dependent on them and that the ones on the sides are more for stability, but krenzo reminded me that there was a little bit left to fix on streets of fire, so that will have to be done later ^_^
Indoor structures anyone? Make it more like an aircraft carrier, with things like quarters and a McDonalds.
I liked Megels blimp better, besides where is the nifty indoor combat objectives going to take place & lifetacular stuff gonna go? Don't kill the dream! --^
These blimpy ships need some sort of mannable AA guns. And the BE runways look kinda flimsy for something that is concveably taking alot of air pressure, Maybe add one a compartment below it? But eh, what do i know :D
Mumbles & Mumblings I just really want this map to fair & fun for everyone so that guys who can't fly or hate flying can still have fun hitching a ride & boarding the other guys ship & doing objectives (like grens & riflemen blowing up engine rooms & auto turret mainframes to give the planes an advantage on hostile turf, or scouts sabotaging terminals to open doors & stuff, or engys rewiring auto turrets to work against their own team or set up something in certain rooms on the other teams ship to be a spawn point, similar to the wooden walls on escort & can be destroyed) on the other guys ship rather than just kill everyone on the deck before they blast you, that would be rather boring in my opinion having no purpose but to fight in the air until one teams tickets run out. I have high hopes for this map, I'm hoping that it is one of those maps that just makes people get excited like escort does now.
As an artistic note, I think that the NF airship needs lots of cables of different sizes dangling and arcing around it. The BE one might look neat with a few thick ones as well. Maybe some counterweights and anchors hanging from the NF craft, since it's blimb-based? I'd have to agree with earlier comments about the NF airship not being as good as the BE one. I think it has to do with the actual blimb portions. They look kinda odd.
I really like the BE one. The light colours make me think of it as a kind of hospital/research station.
You should show what the hell powers these behemoths, i assume a black hole connecting to our universe *looks at second to last forum* :p
Have to be honest, I'm not too keen on the shape/positioning of the balloons. The main hull looks great, but it doesn't really look like the balloons are doing any supporting. Maybe adding those under-side ones will correct that...
