Yeah, I know the leader DrZais. He's a damn good concept artist, plus he used to play empires. You aren't DrZais in disguise are ya!?
http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/1871/blimbim1.jpg Spent 30 minutes in hammer working on this, just to give an idea of how it might look like.
I really really like the idea of a pointed nose for the NF blimp, that looks excellent. I picture the BE one having multiple hangers. the NF one has the large airstrip on top (exactly like the one drawn, no wider... that's about 3 heavy tanks wide as i picture it which is enough. there can be a trench with doors going off it along the airstrip.
Whee! Submarine! =D That was the first thing which came in my mind. To be more specific that is extremely similar to Jeff Wayne's War of The Worlds' PC game. I still have it and it is my second most played through game which I have. I couldn't find any pictures at the human's submersible but it is very very similar to that.
True. Just make the nose not look like bird's beak and make it a little bit wider so hangars can be fit on top of it in the middle.
oh dangit, you found my inpiration. Talespin used to be one of my favs when I was little. If you look at my concept there are at least 6 spawn points for aircraft (7 I think). If bomber go above the blimp then the max AA will be pointed at it. Dee, love that engine room idea, priceless. I wonder if i could model this and send it to hammer?
Wait? ^Dee^? Kinda looks like the Metropolis link I posted up, Unless she beat me to it via PM? =o Anyways look great. :D
Yeah I started reading this thread and saw the discussion about the blimps and I thought I would suggest a double blimp, but it was already there. best thing ever created by Disney animation studios. I usually dont like the preachy family stuff with all the songs and so on. Air pirates are as cool as it gets(crimson skies ). especially the Iron vulture and the tiny planes with all the machine guns.
Well its moving alone slowly. Ive never modeled interiors and rooms like this before, I feel like Im actually designing a working blimp O death. So far it looks like Im going to have 11 decks not counting the 2 hanger decks and the engine room which are all 2 decks tall. Notice the tiny guy and the fighter, thats to scale. Inside the upper hanger deck there are 4 pads that can lower into the lower hanger deck which is the pink box. You can also see the cylenders protruding from the engine room. Oh, its the rear of the blimp or Mobil Areal Carrier, MAC for short. By the way, how am I going to work lighting with a model imported into hammer? Solokiller?
As far as i know, dynamic models have dynamic lighting on them. So if you have a large map, put the blimb in the middle, and make sure it's a dynamic entity, you should be able to update the model and check ingame. If you mean lighting inside the model, the mapper will have to place it there, unless it's coded, in which case lights could be added with code.
