Blimpz Map

    Me and Krenzo were talkin at Dennys the other day and came up with a cool idea for a 8 or 16x aircraft map. Each team would start on a massive floating airbase, like an aircraft carrier but in the sky. The NF one would be a great big blimp with air pads on it. The BE one would be more advanced with lift pads and what not. Each base would need hall ways, rooms, etc with map objectives. The idea would be to board the enemy craft, dissable a series of systems, and then blow the thing up. Its kind of like ES or the Titan mode in BF 2142 but with Empires it would be better.

    What thinks you?

    I had an idea a little bit like this, except it was a giant BE blimb and a smaller NF blimb (but still enough room for blimbs to take off etc.), and the NF blimb had latched on to the BE blimb so soldiers could board it, pierate style. :D

    I had a similar idea, but the in my idea/dream/fantasy the bases moved around.

    Anything with that has to do with flying & boarding other ships is always fun. But will the aircraft themselves have objectives other than boarding the other guys ship & dogfighting? You know like blow up the Command Bridge, or disable the engines/thrusters, or stationary targets like AA turrets that respawns every few minutes (to keep things interesting) until the indoor crew takes care of whatever is keeping those turrets from respawning.

    Some "life" inside the ship would be interesting such as crews quarters (one of many spawn points?), Rec room, Mess hall, similar to the kind of stuff you see on most modern warships, as long as they aren't too pointlessly out of the way, kinda like an alternate route to keep people from camping one hall, & would possibly be a little easier to identify where you are at, & where to alert your teammates to, when attacking or defending an area. Ex: "They're trying to rush us through the Mess Hall!" or "They've set up a lvl 3 MG Turret near their Rec Room."

    Sounds like a plan, I know of a mod which had great success in doing so. Success not in gameplay, but in awards

    Thats a good idea, there could also be objectives linked such as turrets protected by a sheild that protects turrets that cant be brought down unless the sheild is dissabled.

    Inside diffrent objectives such as dissabled subsystems, or unlocking doors, could be under taken by scouts and engies.

    This is a serious map idea, only one blimp, and would use real aircraft. The BE carrier would not be a blimp.

    i like it in theory, but it sounds like a dystopia style map (except 2 atackers) or that one space mod.

    Flying aircraft carriers own (blimb or no blimb)

    Its got my vote
    One question,would we we high enough up so thers no floor i.e. no ground based stuff at all or close enough to the ground so we can drop tanks and do some mental stuff

    oh man, having a ground area with some sort of awesome base in the middle of it. And having the bases be able to move up and down in small increments. :|ove:

    you could have one team with the aircraft carrier like blimp and another with the base on the ground. the blimp slowly moves towards the base where its massive mounted guns can rip it up and kill the comm vehicle there.

    the bimps are gunna need large flat areas on them for aircraft to land on. like an airstrip along the side of each one.

    I had very similar map idea for escort styled map. :pathetic:

    Actually. I still have it in my notebook but I haven't had time to even try to see how I should map it.

    no no, two blimps. Krenzo sugested the same thing (before weedy or sandbag) but the aircraft coming from the aloft blimp would have a devistating advantage over those launched from the ground. Fighters could dive down, bombers would already be at altitude, gunships could quickly pepper the area then resupply. No, there must be two areal fortresses.

    Who is gona get started on this?

    fuck parachutes. seriously FUCK parachutes. being dropped down in a dropship instead of just jumping out is WAY cooler. plus empires is already like battle field games and instead of just imitating them we can go our own more origional more FUN direction.

    EA didnt create parachutes.. just cause they gots em in BF dont mean we would be imitating them by implementin em

    oh man BF2 has guns and tanks.. man we need to remove those from emp

    i can find many uses for them

    even ignoring the bf copying thing (which i dont really care about personally either) i still think this game would be WAY better off without parachutes... just more atmospheric, more enjoyable.
