BE Gunship showcase thread

    Here is my design proposal for the BE gunship:

    Note that this is a WIP base model with about 3000 triangles. The final model will have about twice as many. I'll also try and get higher resolution renders once I get it into 3ds Max.

    Inspirations for this are the Comanche stealth helicopter and the Harrier jet (note the engine exhaust jets at the sides).

    What do you think? Does it look Brenodi? Does it look good? Does it look like it can fly?

    at first good work so far
    it looks pretty like brenodi but i think the feature thats determines the most in this game wether its BE or NF is the texture

    can it fly
    i dont know if we wanted a gunship like a chopper or more like a fighter like the harrier
    in my opinion this tries both but none of it really good
    the jet engines are pretty big which would determine it as a jet but the wings are too small for that
    the small wings would be indicative for a VTOL but the the vertical thrusters are too small

    //whoops didnt see the last picture its better with these backwards thrusters but in my opinion still to less :S

    well but thats only my opinion
    and as i said good work so far

    Right now it looks angular and messy. The silhouette i think is alright.
    What you should do, is find many pictures on the internet of things you want:
    harrier engines
    commanche cockpits
    gunship weapons

    Then you model those things, and smack them together, make sure they fit the silhouette of the model.

    I'm not sure of silhouette.

    Make some screen shots or renders with smooth shading. Grey isn't exactly color to use both as background and for material.

    Reminded me of a picture I saw, so I went back to google and dug it up.

    Nice work, with some polish it will look pretty nice. the thrusters for vertical lift look a little out of place. Maybe you could make them rectangular and center them in the middle of the model on both sides?

    dont like the nose, the tail and how the tips of the wings end

    edit: sorry also dont like the ski's

    would suggest feet? or some kind of paws holding it to the ground
    the nose could use a bit more angularity it looks like a predator drone atm, may be kinda cool but is not really working here... possibly attack helicopter cockpit? possibly angled down 30- 40° as this will make it easier to use as a gunship (has a fighter cockpit atm) the tail needs a lot of love, if you are going to leave it as is its going to unbalance the whole model imo the wings seem to look like planks bolted on last minute, maybe try to put more shape into them somehow?

    post a side view and top-down view for drawovers

    making other models
    can't tell you on what exactly he is working on currently, but i guess hes still making better turrets
    but i can only tell you tomorrow, because im still in france today
