1: Being inside an armory automatically gives you health/ammo as if you were riding in an APC. 2: Remove the ammo and health crate inside of the armory. (Becomes unnecessary.) Pros: -No crowding around crates. -No standing obliviously in front of a crate. -More room inside armories. (NF) -Conceptually similar to APCs and repair facilities. Cons: -Players camping defensively in armories. -Slightly slower healing than health crate. Alternatives: -Healing and/or ammo in radius.
The healing is much slower than that of a health crate, possibly raise it a tad. Sounds like a nice idea, but this still doesn't help the door blockage problem. Player A with 5hp enters armory as player B with 100HP tries to leave. ?!?!?!?!? If you try to solve that by simply creating a radius effect, we go to the speaker tower/rally point suggestion.
ok we really need to implement this idea this is what? the 3rd time i have seen this suggestion? 2.3 here we come
if you're going to be able to look out of the armory and shoot while you're getting healed, it needs to be slow.
keep the ammoboxes etc, even if its just sp people can refill faster and dont clog the entrances (because they will run to the boxes and load up faster instead of just walking to the entrance and wait to be filled up)
But Blizzerd, then you'd have the exact same problem. And regardless, the NF armory is still going to have the doorway issue for as long as that model is kept. It doesn't matter what you put in there... Except maybe a teleport that shunts you 20 feet above the armory when your health and ammo are full. An alternative! I needed one of those. (It just doesn't look right to have the Pros and the Cons but no Alternatives.) Definitely. At least for healing. You can already get an insta-reload by changing class... Which can be exploited with the HMG, though it's probably done more in district than in any real map.
The speaker tower idea is something I've wanted. Both empty's and your suggestion can have it as an alternative, and it makes sense to have one in game. A building that has about 1.5x the health of a turret, decent regeneration, slightly improves accuracy of those around it, possibly a bit more armor, etc. Costs 100 res or somethin'..
I'd prefer two seperate choices which fulfil similar roles, the armory for permanent supplies and health, and the supply drop for instant (but not free) ammo and health in the open. Rather than a 'tower' which heals for no given reason.
A tower that heals for no given reason? Ammo crates give ammo for no given reason. Tanks kill tanks for no given reason. It heals you because you pay for it. Why does pointing a calc at someone heal them? Because this is a game, not reality.
But it's a big step. The game has fairly reasonable things, engineers weld tanks to heal them they heal infantry the same way and that's a bit of an immersion brekaer, but for the most part the game makes sense. Crates with + signs on them heal you. Crates with bullets in them restock your ammo. Vehicles are heavily armored and immune to small arms. Getting shot kills you. For the most part, the game is fairly 'realistic' in that things which we expect to happen, happen. And suddenly you have a tower that heals and gives ammo. What the shit? Also the tower doesn't add anything and our armory + crate idea combined do what your tower does, twice over and better, without needing new assets or tossing out old ones.
Someone's siggy had that. Anyways. It adds something that helps the front lines. Could you better explain it to me, or provide a link? I don't know anything about the BF2 crate drops.
Either players on the same team can walk though each other like in TF2 or the armories have been redesigned (yeah, right.)
wat... Armories should be attachable to raxes (providing NF gets a back door <.>) and they can still be placed individually.
It's alright Youzy; I'm sure if you beg Blizzerd enough he'll get on top, :p. Congrats devs on soft models!
