Today on the vipers server, an admin kicked me for placing an ammocrate on a ref point. The admin made a vote saying "ammocrate blocking is an exploit?" The vote majority was 'no' since the team who got their ref point blocked was butthurt. I placed an ammocrate on the ref point in rainbowroad and then I got kicked for exploiting. Seriously wtf. All the admin can say is that "ammocrate blocking was deemed an exploit from that vote"
Bugs are unintended problems, mistakes, errors, etc. Exploits are ways of gaining advantage due to developer oversight. This is a game mechanic. One that some people (perhaps majority, perhaps loud minority) don't like. There are suggestions in place to change said game mechanic but until such changes are implemented, the result returned is the result desired.
Well if the devs consider it a feature, then its not an exploit. I just inferred from this thread that ammo boxes blocking refs was not an intended part of the game.
So 3-5 devs get to decide what goes in the game against community wishes? Though I obviously don't speak for the community, I say a poll is in order :v.
that'd be the "there are suggestions in place..." part of my previous post, I'm really kind of on the fence on the whole thing quite honestly, but I figure if it should be changed, it should be weaponized. For now I rather enjoy screwing over ref points for a limited duration before a tank cuts me down, and can't find it in me to declare such giggly fun an exploit. Exploit would be if the box never vanished. **EDIT** PreDom, a poll wouldn't hurt to determine community wishes going forward, but with or without the poll, yes ultimately 3-5 developers decide what to develop. Hopefully the changes made cause more good than harm, but that's the nature of the process. If a game had literally everything you wanted and nothing you didn't want (without compromise) there's an overwhelming chance the game would only be enjoyed by one player, it's creator.
I think it's a broken gameplay mechanic that might be addressed with a feature like melee kills ammoboxes. Therefore it is kind of an exploit in my opinion, but nothing that players should be kicked for.
soundspawn, nine-mining was giggly fun; ninja-ing was giggly fun; fucking griefing is giggly fun, to name a few examples. Do you see where I'm going?
nine-mining, ninja-ing, and griefing will all be in 2.25 as well. So unless you're making a feature list, I don't know where you're going. And yes, I just called griefing a feature. I didn't mean it though.
Man. You people are retarded, of course ammo boxing a fucking ref node is an exploit. Lemme put it in a patch notes for you: Fixed: -Engineers were able to completely block ref nodes for 2 minutes, this has been fixed
Fixed: Tank carcasses were able to completey block ref nodes for x seconds, this has been fixed. Enemy refinery carcasses were able to completely block ref nodes for x seconds, this has been fixed.
For like, 15 seconds. Plus there's no point blocking a node with a 100-1000 res carcass. I have an extreme urge to use expletives.
