The current ammo regen for cannons give BE a really big disadavantage right now especially on large open maps like mvalley or midbridge. It also makes rails more or less useless in a real game.
It's not in the scripts sadly, it's hardcoded. I'll pass it on to Jephir to see if he has any ideas. Essentially, it always tops up one mag at a time, or, if there are no mags, 1 shell at a time. Apart from giving cannons mags (or clips, whatever), I can't fix that script-side.
I'm pretty sure that you can change the refill speed of tank mags, so making each shot it's own clip, while messy, actually sounds like a good idea to rectify this problem.
with the current ammo situation.. i think i will only research MGs or splash damage weapons. missiles seem bad in open maps. u have to score direct hits.
The problem is that it treats each shell (when there are no clips) as a clip. That's not going to change if you make every shell a clip. It's still going to take exactly the same length of time.
Why is this a problem? You can sit on an ammo box and continue to fire until the ammo box disappears. That's useful as hell. If you want to buff cannons, double their ammo capacity, but don't remove that reload system. That shit rocks.
Oh, well that's a bummer. Are we talking about rails and ER? I still think it's a necessary evil for the ability to never waste any ammo and have no reload time. That's a bitchin reload system. Another thread discussed the feature of mag dumping. Missile reloading is so lame that the ability to discard ammo to get a full clip is a feature. So I can't conclude that cannons are underpowered because they occasionally need to stop firing in order to reload. Is this Call Of Duty? Not all weapons work all the time. Therefore the decision of weapon research falls under the category of "strategy".
See, that's the solution. Teamwork, not babying. If you can get your engy bros to help you, then you deserve to infinitely fire your damn rails.
Turn cannons into clips, make clip reload at 0 seconds, voila faster cannon reloading? Just balance the shots per clip for each cannon.
Perhaps depending on the weapon you have attached to the vehicle determines how much ammo you get. Would it be possible to speed up rates you get ammo back?
