AFV sucks

    So, I came up with a redeeming feature.
    Let's make it AMPHIBIOUS.

    That's right, AMPHIBIOUS.

    AFVs are big, ugly, and have nothing good about them, but what if they were the only vehicles that functioned underwater, that would change everything!

    While yes, it is exploitable (simply say it fell down and wrecked when it comes to maps with water around the edge) it's a pretty cool and unique feature when it comes to tanks. I'm unsure as to whether it should float or be submerged.

    Comments, ideas?

    Pros
    -AFVs have an excuse for being so fail on land
    -Amphibious transport really tosses things in the air for NF!
    -Unique

    Cons
    -Overpowered?

    Alts
    -Much Slower
    -Floats, becomes makeshift gunboat for BE
    -Less armor?

    the true is. the AFV and the NF light have both the same waepon slots..
    also why do the AFV sucks and the light tank not?

    idea:
    make the AFV to a amphibius small troop transporter, whit less armor as a APC. slower, but it can swin in water, and you can spawn in it.
    also only whit 2 slots MGs.

    the BE get for it a light tank.

    OR
    change the AFV to a BE light tank. (new model plz, smaller and not so ugly. http://www.arthritiscaregateshead.org.uk/EdenCampTrip/Eden_Camp_This_Place_Is_Well_Protected_02.jpg)

    The AFV is nothing like the LT, it's slower, larger, and has an extra armor slot as compensation. The LT is fast, handles brilliantly, and lategame can be used with full reactive armor with 2 other weapons!

    The AFV IS a small troop carrier, it carries 4 guys max, doesn't stock ammo, doesn't heal, and doesn't function as a spawn. I don't want an APC clone either!

    The NF LT is different for a reason, I forget the reason, but there is one. the AFV supposedly makes up for it's fail by having extra slots for people and armor, but seriously, that's not enough. An unarmed AFV can't wear full reactive!

    Give the AFV a 2 slot mg and it would be as good as a light tank late game.

    Well, I'm glad that we're staying on topic to the OP.
    I made a suggestion, let's discuss the SUGGESTION, there's already 10000000000 threads about the AFV sucking. :pathetic:

    are all maps whitout water.
    even cyclopean have no use for it.
    so 90% of all maps make youre suggestion useless.

    only isle COULD use it, but most gameplay is abouve. on the hills.
    sorry for that.

    Why can't cycploean use it? The lake in the centre is actually pretty damn deep, and just because it doesn't work on all maps, doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

    yea the centre. but there is a route through the water.

    have i said its a bad idea?
    i just said that the maps it dont support.

    Uh, the AFV DOES have more armour. They arent the same weapon and armour wise. Whoever bitches about the AFV and mentions the armour being the same as in a LT needs to go use the AFV for an hour then come back. It gets an extra plate on each side, one on the frond, and IIRC one on the back. I'm sure about everything but the back plate.

    Right, you're the one who's bitching actually :rolleyes: .

    And the reason BE doesn't get a LT is... Cuz they already got one? But with different stats. Like a Ghoul and a footman in Warcraft III..

    There's water in MValley and Slaughtered, and amphibious transport would be really useful in both.

    maybe. but I have never needed a ambhibius(sp?) transport.

    it whould be cool when it going in.
    but it dont make the AFV "better" its just a additonal use of it.
    AFV is the counterpart of the LT.
    and the LT is used as fast attack unit.
    what is the AFV?
    hes not fast.
    hes armor is maybe better, but 1 plate more do not much different
    he is a big target
    he cant even carry a good armor, and that whitout weapons.
    only 2 weapons, and they suck.
    drives like a LKW whit a elephant on it (compared to LT.. )

    ok... and why isnt it called light tank? and suck? compared to light.

    OK: TO THE AMPHIBIOUS SUGGESTION: not a no and not a jes. it whould be cool when it going implemented, but i dont need it.

    You have already been told what the AFV is, it is a light transport, and this expands upon that by making it able to transport in more places, it increases its mobility in a different way than speed.

    And weren't you just complaining that the two were identical?

    Asymetrical balance is more fun than symetrical balance.

    Hey if you imagine the afv half under water... it really looks like one
    of those high tech military boats. :)

    Hell yeah if there ever will be a empires 4.0, around 2100 i guess,
    we could make the afv the standart be attack boat :)

    I've been playing on isle for the last hour, there is no place you need to go on that map that will kill any vehicle [except the BE Med, the BE jeep was ok, but not the med...]

    On Mvalley, we'd need it to float, since the river is deeper than it is wide... Slaughtered is interesting, since NF usually hole a sort of beach thin near the bridge lake, which could mean that the BE could sneak up behind them, it also puts pressure on the BE to make sure the bridge STAYS DOWN, so they keep the advantage.

    And I was thinking we could make the AFV amphibious like, next version. It's just a tick to make it buoyant, and then raise the 'engine point' above it, so it doesn't take damage from water, hmm, actually, I can see that it would need a bit of work... But still it already looks like an amphibian, adding fans and streamlining it more, bam, done.

    Yes you have, just didn't have the option, it would be useful in several situations, especially on slaughtered (BE base to SE) and if you don't know how to spell, use firefox http://getfirefox.com

    I would think that increased usability would make something better, in the same way that I could say the Engi is a better class than the rifleman.

    Get a better engine
    that's 50% more armour on the sides than the LT, it makes a difference
    dodge or become a better shot
    They can carry every armour and can do so with weapons. You might not be able to max out everything, but that's the same with every tank.
    4 weapons (cannon, ml, standard mg, chain gun) and those are the same weapons as the LT
    I don't understand this, but I agree the LT is more fun to drive.
