An idea that struck me, what if we add a small text box in the players HUD were the commander can write stuff in.

Examples, "Defend mid, attack east", "BUY TANK, TANK RUSH", "Harass untill heavys", "APC Spamm", "DEFEND COM", "Defend main base!!!!", "Attack their north base.", "Buy artillery".

"Alfa attack north, bravo defend east", "Bravo attack ruins, Charlie defend mid.", "Alfa APC Spam, rest defend main."

It would be like a text box were the commander could write the general strategy for the team.

    Y/N?

    EDIT! Added squad examples.

A friend of mine suggest the ability to write on the minimap score commentator style.

These have been posted countless times in just the time I've been here. Especially the reverse of your idea sirex, wherein the commander would have a special box with text sent by the players.

And your contribution to the topic would be?
    Still waiting.

You failed to give any reason to add it or not add it.

Don't be an ass. He's saying this has been thought of before and to use the search function.

Don't add it. If there was more shit in the com view, i wouldn't be able to see the map.

    Get a mic.

Yeah because yelling the same message over and over in a mic is less irritating and more time efficient then a small text box...

Good idea, especially for the non-microphone commanders. Bonus points if the commander's mic-speak appeared up there too, and if the commander's mic over-played any one else talking.

Having 20 people using their mic every time they want something can become a pain. Add in some lagg and the mics are useless.

Yes, the commander needs another box or something to the right. It shouldn't block too much.

I had a similar idea as the OP. Let squad leaders write objectives for their squad in a text box. The objective would be visible when bringing up the spawn map/normal map.

My idea was for commander giving a general strategy in an easy way.

For squad leaders i think that having a dual order system is better. Like squad leaders can give local move commands that are coloured lets say purple but the commander can still give their green big objectives. This would allow the squad leader to get his squad in to the position he wants to solve the commanders order.

Example commander order squad alfa to attack a point with standard green/red objective makr, but with the purple objectives the squad leader can guide his squad to flank the commanders attack objective. Win win. This is how real militarys operate. The commander giving detailed orders for the whole army stopped 1918.

Yeah this annoys me as well. Same with commander targets vs squad leader targets.

I also think that it would be great for really tell the team the research strat.

Like "Going EE, use lvl 2 turrets for APC defence until homing mediums"
"Going chemistry HEMG, APD, UPG RPG Tactic: APC PUSH"
"Going steady bio, keep pounding them."
"Going Physic, DEFEND against light tank with HeavyMG APC until Medium ERcannon"

The reason for shouting over the mic and stuff is because people don't pay attention to chat boxes or mic spam. Introducing a feature that is easier to ignore will not make most people pay attention more.

I think it would have the opposite effect, having a small text box under the commanders name box poeple could easily see the team strateft the whole time, i think people would ignore the mic spamm more.
