    That's about uraniums long halflife.

    Funfact:

A radioactive isotope with an extremely long halflife is actually much safer to be around than one with an extremely short one! Radioactive decay is the process where the element emits radiation and is a rate measured by the halflife!

A kilogram of material with 10 seconds of halflife will emit vast amounts of radiation in seconds! While a kilogram of a material like U238, with it's huge half life will emit the same amount of radiation over a much much much longer time period!

I've held uranium ore and it's perfectly safe to handle! (Although ingesting it will cause problems...)

However all things considered, if you have a huge leak of a material with a long half life it will be highly damaging to life around the leak for a long period of time.

But anyone who tells you a short halflife makes an element less dangerous is a moron. Go tell them to swallow some Thorium214 and report back on how much safer it is.

Um, that seems a little high.

I don't think one nuclear plant has enough material in it to irradiate the entire western US coast that much, to say nothing of the intervening ocean.

I mean it's in rads, which is kind of bad because you measure dosage in rem, not rads, but that's still rather high.

But not a very helpful one.

It would be like me saying 'the speed limit for this section of road is half a micron of wavelength compression on this radar gun'

A functional unit yes, but not too helpful when your car operates in miles per hour.

I'm worried about the changes the radiation will make to the japanese porn industry. Instead of schoolgirls being raped by tentacle monsters they will grow tentacles themselves and rape everyone else!

That's why mootant is a mootated genious. These radiation leaks will only lead to better anime and more released at a much higher rate.
