Issue summary: Pressing Sprint (default SHIFT) while in Spectators (Free Look) will slow you down. This is most likely not a feature but an oddity.

    Client Version: 2.8.0

    Reproduction steps:
    1.
    Join Spectators
    2. Enter Free Look mode
    3. Press Sprint (default SHIFT) while moving around
    4. You'll notice that you are slowed

I believe this is a feature of the source engine actually. IIRC all source games do this. I think it is to allow more finer control over spectator camera positions, so that you don't have to keep moving back and forth to get that perfect picture angle. Or so that you can explore smaller, more compact, maps without moving through walls. Also it gives for smoother camera movement, which may help in following certain objects or recording demos, etc...

@Awpolt What is your issue with it specifically? Is spectate too slow?

You're correct. It is part of the default codebase. It also comes with a menu that pops up when you press CTRL.

No, spectate is already quite fast as it is! Apologies for the confusion.

otherwise you can speed it up with "sv_specspeed 8" to a reasonable fast value, to be put in "listenserver.cfg"
    (for your own server ofc)

I often used that when doing videos.
Especially when tracking vehicles or so.

    Quite useful.
Especially when you dont have access to the server to use specspeed.
