Ok, so it's been a little while. This will be the first test on the Source 2013 version of Empires. Details of how to install that can be found here:

    http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=18205

However, LordDz will make a nice thread specifically explaining how to do it with screenshots and all that jazz. That thread above should be sufficient in the meantime. I won't be making any steamgroup events until I can link to Dz's thread.

We'll pretty much just be working out how the game is actually functioning and if there are any glaring issues. The game seems just about playable but we really have no idea what we're getting into here. There will be an after-test thread up so you can post any bugs you find. We'll then maintain a buglist so the coders can keep striking them off.

Those who attend might get a small surprise, but I can't guarantee that yet.

    I'll see you all there.

Make sure you update your svn just before the test to make sure you have all the latest bugfixes.

If already mentioned a few things to candles so hopefully the most obvious things will be fixed. I think there might be a few intermittent bugs but I haven't figured out how to reproduce them yet.

The testing server is set up and ready to go!
I had to change the app ids in gameinfo.txt and steam.inf on the server to the ids for source sdk base 2013 multiplayer for it to show up in the server browser rather than showing up as an empires server.
This might cause a problem when people are using svnpires and steampires to test so it might have to be one or the other.

If this test goes well, I'll commit a few more features that I haven't added yet due to the code freeze and we'll see how they work out.

    That always happens.

After this error occurs, rightclick in the empires folder again, but this time go to "tortoiseSVN -> Cleanup".
After cleanup is ready (just a few seconds), rightclick in the folder again and choose "SVN Update".

He'll download a little bit more and afterwards it's done

If you try updating immediately after this error, the red warning texts actually asks you to run the cleanup command first, so that's how I got it working.

    It's Just Cause 1 actually.

And no, that's not it. The surprise is actually a little broken to be honest, but idk, I guess it's more of a "first chance to see" kinda thing. Most people I spoke to already worked it out.

I'm quite sure all of this existed for some time now, but let's mention it again anyway:

After changing the Anti-Aliasing option in the advanced menu, the top right part of the hud disappears: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/234836/empires/testing/test3.jpg

And from the moment the advanced graphics menu opens, the console keeps throwing out warnings at an impressive speed, and will continue doing so untill both the advanced menu AND the general menu has been closed down:

The second is the case in 2007 Empires too - open a couple windows and you get flooded by those.

Yeah the "too many popups rendering will be bad" exists in official valve games aswell. IIRC.

I was about to say, maybe we can just hardcode in the filtering out of it.

... so it isn't there for a reason to tell us we are screwing something up?
