[2.5 RC4] Scout defaults to binoculars upon spawning

    1. Go to a team (I went NF)
    2. Go scout
    3. Spawn
    4. You are holding your binocs instead of (I guess) the primary weapon

    This also happens as Engineer when shotgun is selected.

    Does it happen with the scout when SMG is selected?

    Actually yeah, when your primary is an SMG you spawn holding the gun. Only the shotguns make you go to binoculars/calculators.

    Also happens with the shotty pistol, you spawn with it equipped. It occurs even if you give the shotty pistol to other classes.

    I looked through the scripts, can't really see anything standing out.

    EDIT: I have a theory.. To the testing mobile!

    EDIT2: HURRAKYEAH! I have found the answer! I shall now run naked through my city.

    EDIT3: The answer: In the weapons script, the "weight" value isn't how heavy they are, but a left over from Hl2 Deathmatch with "Switch to weapon if picked weapon is stronger". And as weight value of the shotgun is 8 and the Bino weight is 25, the Bino are switched to.

    Jesus I spent 2 fucking hours trying to work that out when we first added the shotguns and gave up. I thought it was the order in which they were indexed within the actual weapon script which lists every weapon.


    I'll probably dick about with a few weapons in that case. As a rifleman, you spawn with your pistol out, which I'd prefer you didn't.

    Just always give the guns in slot 2 the highest value and you are done.
