Edit2: Removed:+ Support for DirectX levels lower than 90. Thx developer team for spitting in the face of all the players with slower computers for no reason cause theirs no effect in direct x 8 that falls under cheating. Wow seriously.. thats a mean move and you know it. Hell even tf2 and l4d2 allow directx8 if you want.

when your card doesnt support dx9 it is just done through the driver or directX or whatever.
And when u just don't want all the dx9 features, look into one of those 8 threads where it has been discussed, there's console commands that u can use to disable all the features and make it behave exactly like dx8

So why remove direct x8 from the game even if their is no reason for it? Its just a dick move nothing more.

Whilst I don't agree with DX8 being removed, there is something wrong with DX9 causing a huge drain on FPS, and we're actually getting closer to working out what it is. If we can fix that, not even the shittiest computers will need DX8. But until then, yeah, DX8 is probably needed.
This is not a random black screen, im on the server. Standart settings, only command was -console.
I can tell that im on the server from the chat dialoge that was viewable on console.

This game has a minimum requirement of DirectX 9.0 to run properly.
OH WELL its not about software direct x level its about hardware directx level. Nice thats even a greater dick move than expected. So I basically cant play the game in software dx9 while I can do that completly fine in any other source game? Excellent...

Thats not true... the game needs a gpu with dx9 to run. The game doesnt run with software support only.

Maybe there is a technical reason. Notice how the releases have been much faster since they removed support for SSE?
I would imagine that not needed to worry about issues brought up because someone's pc is absolute shit will help mootant remove the actual bugs instead of spending hours optimizing for shitty computers :/
Its about freaking shaders not about cpu stuff. Oh and direct x8 works fine, direct x9 empires is fucked up.
i think nfhr could use a slight damage buff. by like 3 or 4 or so.
